Sanctuary

The tabernacle was the place where you could meet God. God dwelt there.
Another name for Sanctuary was the tent of meeting. It was a place where you met with God.
During our weekly schedule, we have a sanctuary, a tent of meeting.
Church, the Sabbath. We can meet with God throughout the week, but as a group we meet on the Sabbath.
Exodus 25:8 ESV
8 And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst.
Both the sanctuary and the Sabbath is all about dwelling with God.
Both Daily steps and big steps toward Salvation.
Sacrifice
Cleansing
Nourishment
Witness
Communication
Safely dwelling with God.

Year of Release

Sanctuary

Every 7 years all slaves are set free. Also the land becomes free from the work of humans.
Exodus 23:10 ESV
10 “For six years you shall sow your land and gather in its yield,
Exodus 23:10–11 ESV
10 “For six years you shall sow your land and gather in its yield, 11 but the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave the beasts of the field may eat. You shall do likewise with your vineyard, and with your olive orchard.
Exodus 23:10-
Sabbath is all about freedom from the effects of work (sin).
The year of release is the same.
The slaves are set free on the 7th year. They can return to their families and live their own lives once again. This ensures that no one will be a slave forever.
Deuteronomy 15:12 ESV
12 “If your brother, a Hebrew man or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you, he shall serve you six years, and in the seventh year you shall let him go free from you.
In the same way, we won’t be a slave to sin forever. There will come a time when we will have freedom over sin. It all comes in the idea of the Sabbath.
The land is also set free from the work of mankind. No one can work the fields. But the land will still bring forth food, just naturally. For one whole year, no one is a slave to anyone. Everyone is free.
Debt is also forgiven.
Deuteronomy 15:1–6 ESV
1 “At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release. 2 And this is the manner of the release: every creditor shall release what he has lent to his neighbor. He shall not exact it of his neighbor, his brother, because the Lord’s release has been proclaimed. 3 Of a foreigner you may exact it, but whatever of yours is with your brother your hand shall release. 4 But there will be no poor among you; for the Lord will bless you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance to possess— 5 if only you will strictly obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all this commandment that I command you today. 6 For the Lord your God will bless you, as he promised you, and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow, and you shall rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over you.
Deuteronomy 15:1-
Should remind you of the day of atonement.

Year of Jubilee

Just like the year of release, but in the year of jubilee, you return to your original property.
Leviticus 25:8–12 ESV
8 “You shall count seven weeks of years, seven times seven years, so that the time of the seven weeks of years shall give you forty-nine years. 9 Then you shall sound the loud trumpet on the tenth day of the seventh month. On the Day of Atonement you shall sound the trumpet throughout all your land. 10 And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you, when each of you shall return to his property and each of you shall return to his clan. 11 That fiftieth year shall be a jubilee for you; in it you shall neither sow nor reap what grows of itself nor gather the grapes from the undressed vines. 12 For it is a jubilee. It shall be holy to you. You may eat the produce of the field.
Leviticus 25:8-
In ancient Israel, this is the ultimate Sabbath. Everything receives freedom.
The main idea is that everything belongs to God, so everything returns to the original owner. God is lending things to us so that we can be good stewards.
Leviticus 25:23 ESV
23 “The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine. For you are strangers and sojourners with me.
Leviticus 25:23
Once every 50 years everything is reset!
No debt.
No slavery.
But also everything returns to the original owner.
No one can monopolize others.
Its the ideal.
But it doesn’t work in our capitalistic mindsets.
Which is exactly the point.
Capitalism is selfish.
God is putting everyone on the same level. Everyone is cared for.
The year of Jubilee is also how it will be in heaven.
Oh and Jesus set the year of Jubilee at the beginning of his ministry.
Luke 4:18–19 ESV
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
