Is it important for a Christian to pray?

The Lord did not say if you pray but when you pray.

How often should we pray: - three times daily- - without ceasing

How long should we pray? Matthew 6:5-

- pattern for praying

Pray in private- you need time when it is just you and the Lord with no distractions

Length is not as important as depth in our prayer lives. Don’t get in the habit of repetition of the same exact words and phrases. Let prayer flow from the heart.

God knows what we have need of yet He still instructs us to ask- - have not because ye ask not

Our father- remember God is our heavenly father and His desire is to give us that which we ask for- - father son relationship

We pray for the accomplishment of God’s will (Vs. 10)

Pray for God’s provision- (Vs. 11)

Confession and forgiveness (Vs. 12 & 14)

Pray for God’s protection from temptation (Vs. 13)

Prayer and fasting (Vs. 16-18)- - prayer and fasting

Are all our prayers answered?

Lack of faith- - because of unbelief/ - pray believing

- iniquities separated - prerequisite to answered prayers

- husband and wife relationship

- we ask amiss

What about when we don’t know how to pray? - Spirit helpeth

What should we pray for?

- the lost- prospect list

- for one another- prayer request list

Pray for God’s will to be done in our own lives.
