This passage was not only look at the present victory and restoration, but it was looking forward to the promised Messiah and the victory that His life and death achieved.
As we look back at the cross, we believe by faith that Jesus was victorious.
It is through this victory that the message of the angel come with great joy to all people.
Us here today do not just look back to Jesus birth but we look forward to the final day when sin will be finally eradicated from this earth and God’s universe.
For us to rejoice is to look forward to the end time hope that looks past our current suffering to the joy of living in the presence of God.
says, I will rejoice in Jerusalem and joy in My people; the voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her, nor the voice of crying.
To really rejoice in God would then mean that through our belief in God we are to possess, own, enjoy the possession of, enjoy the fruition or realization of God’s victory that He has given to us.
To rejoice in the birth of Jesus and His victory is to claim it and own it for ourselves.
When we do this, we are able to see and rejoice His justice, steadfast love, faithfulness, goodness, power, and all-embracing healing.
How can we this week rejoice in God?
We need to claim the life of Jesus for ourselves.
We need to posses or own His promises for our lives.
