Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. 12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Introduction

The Apostle Paul was a man that was greatly used of God.
One of the reasons why Paul could be used by God is that Paul was humble.
Humility is the key to unlocking the Power of God

I. Power of Contentment

Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
The Holiday Season is a time when people lose control financially.
It is OK to have possessions, but don’t let your possessions possess you.

Pride hinders Contentment

Pride tells you that you deserve more!
Pride leads to wanting what Others Have (covetousness)

Remember the Garden of Eden?

Eve was deceived when she was not content...
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
You get victory through Contentment
Are you happy with what God has already given you?
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

II. Power of Compliance

I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
Pride Hinders your compliance or flexibility
Paul was able to be greatly used by the Lord because he was flexible, he could adapt to different circumstances and still have joy.
A proud person has to have everything “THEIR” way! They throw a temper-tantrum when they don't get what they want.
Pride limits your ministry opportunities for the Lord also. A proud person will only do ministry that get them recognition or rewards.
A person that understands the Power of Compliance serves the Lord with Joy no matter that assignment that God gives them

Questions

Do you serve the Lord with Joy?
Are you patient and flexible with others
Do you always have to get your way?

III. Power of Christ

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
