Introduction

Topic: Church Systems that Contribute to Church Growth
Text: ;
Romans 12:3–5 NKJV
3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. 4 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.
1 Corinthians 12:12–14 NKJV
12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. 14 For in fact the body is not one member but many.

Why “synergos”

1 Corinthians 3:9 NKJV
9 For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.
we are “fellow workers” with God
- we are “fellow workers” with God
we want to emphasize “togetherness” in ministry
God wants us to work together - not separately
in order to work together, we have to understand each other’s calling and giftedness

The Ministry as a Body

The Church is a spiritual body composed of Spirit-filled men and women
The ministry is the visible side of the Church
The ministry is what the Church does
The ministry is what the world sees
Composed of different parts (members)
All parts are “joined to each other”
All parts have specific functions
All parts contribute to the body
All parts belong to a “system” that play a critical role to the body
Systems of the human body
digestive system
nervous system
skeletal system
circulatory system
plus 6 more
when all systems function properly, you have a “healthy” body
when the body is healthy, it grows and performs properly

The Systems of the Church/Ministry

[see handout material]
10 Laws of Assimilation
Laws of visitor retention
1O LAWS OF ASSIMILATION
Build a sense of belonging into the new comers.
Have a way and process of welcoming newcomers into your church family.
Introduce them to your core leaders, including the pastorate as soon as possible.
Introduce them to significant friendship, not less than seven new friends.
Treat newcomers as converts, not as visitors.
Show them you are expecting them.
Show them they have a place in the church and a room in your heart.
Show them they are part of the house and not an outsider.
Let them see the need to get involved in the Sunday school and small groups and church arms.
Expose newcomers to ministry opportunities available in the church and how they can access them and get involved.
Let the newcomers know you have interest in their affairs.
Let there be a way of obtaining feedback from the newcomers.
Get newcomers involved in ministry activities as soon as they are in Sunday school, membership or discipleship class.
10 LAWS OF VISITOR RETENTION
The Law of First Time Visit
Work at increasing the number of new guests that visit your church. Be committed to making your first timer come the second time. It is by keeping 16 percent of your first timers that your church can grow by 5 percent.
Only 10-12 percent of the first time visitors will join the church within one year. The way out here is to work generally at increasing the number of new guests every Sunday
The Law of Second Time Visit
HOW TO BE GRACIOUS TO YOUR GUESTS SO AS TO GENERATE SECOND TIME VISIT
Greet your guests individually after the service. 78 percent of adult visitors like it
Send them “thank you note” that same week in the name of the pastor. 70 percent like the idea of receiving SMS TEXTS, E-mail or postal/ personal mails by members of the church.
Host them to a church sponsored reception ’after that day’s service - 65 percent are favourably disposed to this.

Make information about the church available
Make information about the church available
Acknowledge your guests presence, without putting them in the spotlight. Keep your guests anonymous, but not ignored.
Acknowledge your guests presence, without putting them in the spotlight. Keep your guests anonymous, but not ignored.
The Law of Third Time Visit
75 percent of third time visitors will join the church. Dr. Win Arn found a direct correlation between friendliness and potential church growth. He found out that friendly churches were more effective at assimilation, while less friendly churches assimilated fewer people.
The Law of Small Group
It has been estimated that 90 percent of all newcomers who join a small group will remain loyal to the church. Newcomers enter a church looking for three elements
Friends To Relate With
A Place To Belong
A Ministry To Join

Prayer Support System

[see handout material]
How to Oil the steam engine of prayer
10 ways to saturate your church with prayer
10 ways to pray the multitude into your church
The secret of success in the pulpit is secret prayers. All our libraries and studies are mere emptiness compared with our closets. The more familiar you are with the court of heaven, the better shall you discharge your heavenly mandate on earth.
Church growth is 60% prayers and 40% methods and principles, according to Dr. Yonggi Cho - the Pastor of the world’s largest church. There must be deliberate, systematic prayer warfare strategy. We are dealing with well organized, structured enemy with levels and layers of satanic authorities.
SATURATE YOUR CHURCH IN PRAYER
Never step behind the pulpit without being on fire
Deliberately increase your time in prayer
Appoint a minister of prayer
Engage full-time or part-time intercessors to pray for the church, the preacher and the leaders, as well as the pulpit.
