Collision of Kingdoms- SLIDE ALREADY MADE
Would you agree that there are some things that are too big for us to understand in this life?
Would you agree that there are some real mysteries in life?
Slide 1 Space Man used to think that earth was flat. The Greeks thought that a giant named Atlas held the Earth on his shoulders.
Ancient Hindus used to believe that the earth stood on the back of elephants.
Then when someone would ask what the elephants stood on, they said a couple of giant tortoises.
And someone woul ask what are they standing on?
They would reply they are on the back of giant sea snakes that are swimming in a great cosmic sea
Slide 2 There is a wonder to Nature that I don’t understand.
All of life has this incredible symmetry and order to it.
in tis picture there are probably over a 1000 diffrent species of lifeforms that are tucked away behind the greenery
Slide 3 Baby
There is a mystery to life.
Not really a mystery when you understand the God of the Bible, but there is truly a miracle to life.
When we were in the delivery room and watched our little Ellie being born we were amazed at the miracle of Child birth.
COLLISION OF KINGDOMS
Today we are gathering together to celebrate another child , the promised Child.
Over the last few week we have been in our Lamb of God series.
And Week one we looked at the very first promise of the child in Genesis three, at the very outset of the fall, WE SEE THAT WAR HAS BROKEN OUT AND THE King of Darkness, delivered a death blow to the first King and queen of the earth Adam and Eve.
But even there we seen God gave us hope, and the hope was going to be in a child, a child would be born and this child would grow into a man and crush the head of the Serpent
Isaiah 7:14
Is 9
All of Creation waited for this child to be born.
It would be born into a world at war.
And His birth would be an invasion, a collision of two kingdoms.
The King of light would be born into a World full of darkness.
And we seen that this child would be given over as a sacrifice.
We seen the picture of this when God told Abraham to offer up Isaac his one and only son.
It was a picture of when God would send His only son
Then we see this theme of a Lamb throughout the Old Testament.
A lamb that would be slain for the sins of the world.
In Exodus when God’s people are enslaved in Egypt, in bondage to the Egyptians and their false demon gods, we see God send an unlikely saviour in Moses.
And through ten different plagues, plagues that struck at the heart of the Egyptian gods that showed the power of the True God, through these plagues, God would use to set His people free.
What are wee seeing?
We are seeing a collision of Kingdoms, we are seeing war in the heavenlies.
The final plague that would crush the Pharoah was the last plague.
When God would send the death angel throughout the land who would kill all the firstborn of the land.
but God gave his people a way of escape, and it would be through a Lamb.
The passover Lamb, They were to take a spotless lamb, eat that lamb and they were to take the lamb’s blood and paint the outside of their door posts with that blood.
And when the death angel came through the land that night whoever had the blood on the door, the death angel would passover, that house and spare it because a life had already been taken.
Guess when Jesus died, while they were celebrating Passover.
What was God doing?
God was preping his people.
For the Coming One.
What was God doing?
God was preparing his people.
For the Coming One.
For the Lamb that takes away the Sin of the World.
You see there is a system an order, a truth to reality.
And until you tap into that truth and see things from the Bibles standpoint you are not going to see things clearly.
THE COMING KING- First I want you to see that this Birth is more than a birth, its an invasion.
A collision of Kingdom.
A King that left his world to enter into our world.
This morning I want to change your perspective of the Christmas Story, with everyone just all smiles surrounded by little lambs, cute little lambs and chubby little angels gathered around the manger.
Its important that you see the Christmas story in its accurate context because the danger is that you will think that your Christian experience should be like a hallmark Card
This morning I want you to see the Christmas story a little differently then maybe you have seen it before.
I understand the imagery is dear to many of us, but it is also profoundly deceiving; it creates all sorts of warm feelings, associations, and expectations—many quite subconscious—of what the nature of the Christian life is going to be like for us.
The omissions are, in fact, dangerous—the equivalent of ignoring the movements of ISIS.
And there is a reason you need to see it differently
Now we read the Christmas story written my St John.
This story tells the story behind the story.
What was really going on behind the
THEME- There is a way that things work (How does this set up the Sermon?
All of creation has order, a system- a set of principles or procedures according to which something is done; an organized scheme or method.
The house that you live in had an architect, it has a particular way, a scheme that the builders had to follow to insure suitability of that home
Your car has a system, the motor is energized by small explosions that activate the piston to produce force.
If you are going to be a good mechanic you must understand the systems.
Almost anything in life has an order, a system.
Family has a system.
Most parents are shooting themselves in the foot because they don’t understand the system.
Now the danger there is getting second hand info from the world about how the family operates.
But just like if you are working on a Ford, repairing an HP laptop, or working on the family, it is always safest to go back to the original designer.
Now I am not going to go to the Bible to learn how to fix a Ford motor, but I am not going to go to the Kardashians to fix my family.
I am going to the original creator and the service manual- the Bible
Today we don’t look at life as a system.
a way that things work.
We tend to look at it from the standpoint of luck, chance, a few breaks here and there, and what happens go people go through life without the proper information.
They don’t know the back story and that's why they can’t make sense out of their story.
They are just a leaf floating out in the wind, landing in whatever stream and its unintended destination.
In order to find the system or order of life, you must go to the Word of God.
If you don’t understand why Jesus is essential you must go to the Word of God.
If you don’t understand that there are kingdoms that are in collision, you are going to get knocked on your tail.
The bible tells us what went wrong, and the Bible tells us the only solution to the problem
If you need a triple bypass you don’t remove a gall bladder.
if you are blind you don’t need sun shades.
Rev 12:
Who is this Mystery woman?
First of all this is Mary the Mother of Jesus.
Now yes she is the chosen mother of the Lord.
But this isn’t marry.
Some have interpreted this woman as bein gthe church.
But its not the church, because this woman gives birth to Jesus, its backwards, Jesus gives birth to the church not the other way around.
Let me tell you who this mystery woman is,
She is the nation of Israel, now notice her appearance, she is a woman clothed with the sun , with the moon under her feet and on her head a crown of 12 stars.
This is a reference to a dream that Joseph the grandson of Abraham had in the book of Genesis
The eleven stars were his 11 brothers he would have made 12.
In revelation 12:1 it is describes as a great sign.
A symbol in the heavens, Do you know how the God of the Bible is the true God.
We still have the Jew with us today.
They are the oldest distinct people group on the face of the planet that can trace their people back nearly 4 thousands years.
