Why did Jesus Come?
Why did Jesus Come?
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
Man and the Birds
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
Jesus Came to Live
John 1:Man and the Birds
To Live is to:
Be Humbled
God Had to become small in order to become great.
Be Tempted
God wanted us to know that He understands our struggles
(Side Note) Struggling isn’t sin, Quit contrary we only fall into sin when we quit struggling.
Love and be Loved
Love has a huge weight of emotions which God wanted to experience in order to relate to us.
God already loved the world but the world needed to see God’s love from a human perspective.
Suffer
Life is filled with its ups and downs. Jesus had His mountain top experiences with miracles, signs and wonders but He also had the agony of rejection from His home town and ultimately the agony of the cross.
Die
Since the fall of man everyone has an expiration date. If Jesus was going to relate to the whole world He would have to experience death but in so doing He was able to defeat death, hell, and the grave.
Resurrected to life agian
For the rest of the world death in this life means that we have no hope and all that awaits is an eternal suffering in the lake of fire. but to those of us who trust in Christ and live for Him, we will rise again to live an everlasting life in the glorious kingdom of heaven.
You may find it hard to believe that GOD would step down from Glory and humble Himself into human form and that the virgin birth seems unrealistic but think about this for a moment.
Illustration: Man and the Birds
There was once a man who wasn’t in the mood for Christmas. don’t get me wrong, he wasn’t an Ebeneezer Scrooge or anything. He just simply couldn’t believe that God would come as a babe wrapped swaddling clothes. so on Christmas eve he told his wife and kids that he wouldn’t be joining them at church for the candle light service. shortly after his family left it began to snow. a little while later he heard a thumping outside and thought someone was throwing snowballs at his house. He walked to the front door and found a small flock of birds who had gotten caught in the snow storm. He knew these particular birds couldn’t survive the weather so he decided to help the birds by opening the barn for them to fly into to stay warm. He try turning on a light for them to find the way but that didn’t work so he ran inside and found some bread crumbs and made a trail to lead the birds to safety but still they would enter the barn. so he tried shewing them into the barn and even tried catching them so he could carry them to safety but they continued escape all his efforts. finally the man thought I wish I could gain their trust. If only i was a bird so I could speak to them in their language and show them I’m trying to help them, maybe then they would trust me and about that time the church bells echoed over the blowing wind and the man realized that’s why Jesus came. So we could trust Him as He speaks our language.
14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
