Alright, alright, so we are starting our new series so cliche so cliche you have heard. It said so cliche you have heard it said and today we're going to dig into part one of our series understanding cliches and we're going to get into the definition of what a cliche is there and talk about why we are addressing this topic. What we feel is definitely on the heart of God concerning this as we seek him to share with us as sheep the things that

Will help us grow to a place that we can truly experience a live living breathing affectionate relationship with Christ. And so we're starting today in our series with sews cliche. You have heard it said in that you have heard it said comes out of Matthew wanted scriptures were going to Colorado Matthew where Jesus goes and he starts talking to the Pharisees in the disciples and he's saying you have heard it said and he gives the word as they took it or as it was shared, but then he turned around and he gave deeper meaning to what was there he gave us the the the spirit of what was said instead of just the letter of what was said, so we're going to jump into this and As we always do hear you see life or not going to be before he too long. We want to give you something enough for you to take with you and start to think one of the things I will challenge you to do as we go through the series and I will be soliciting from you. Are cliches or church sayings that you heard said that you want to cover for us to dig deeper into so that we can get down to one if it the spirit if there is a spirit of it or two we can we can look at it and understand the myth of it if you will. So we're going to Dig Inn 1st. And we're going to start with what is the definition definition of the word cliche in the word cliche simply means a phrase or opinion that is overused and betrays a lack of original thought. It's a phrase or opinion that is overused and betrays a lack of original thought. So I think one of those Simple Church cliches that we say is if it's God's will, you know, it's so overuse and misuse and certain certain ways and you can almost predict when it's going to be used. What's a phrase or opinion that is overused in betrays and lack of original thought another one would be all for all have sinned and fall come short of the glory of God. Yes, that's scripture. But you can almost predict when someone will use that scripture. It is usually a Christian believer or non-believer who happens to know that word because it's so often thrown out there and really you could translate that into get off me you not perfect. I'm not perfect and neither are you in so that scripture is used in a cliche is way so we want to dig into things like that and really dig deeper. I am under No Illusion that people will not be offended by this word will not be accusatory potentially of the teaching because we're going to really break down and and died. I said some things that people have believed for a long time. But this is in no way about casting stones at others and their beliefs and their words. It is simply to put truth out there. We shared a post. I think it was earlier this week, maybe a little or maybe last week sometime it is it simply this if you choose truth you don't have to pick sides if you choose true. You don't have to pick size. So our goal is to share true. And you can choose that truth. But if you choose truth you don't have to pick sides in this will be a learning experience for us all as we go for it. So let's jump into our first scripture. Jesse level said, I'm only touching on one of the scriptures where Jesus says you have heard. It said and it's in Matthew 5:17 through 18. It says well Jesus starts here and he says don't think that I've come to destroy the law or the prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill so I again going in line with what I was saying. I don't want hopefully no one takes this as me casting Stones because much like Christ. I'm not looking to take God's word because many of these cliches are scripture. I'm not taking it and say it taken away from it, but I want us to dig deeper beyond the law that the letter of the law and dig into the spirit in Jesus continues and he say, For surely I say to you till Heaven and Earth pass away not one jot or one Tittle will by no means pass from this law till all is revealed to all is fulfilled and we look at that word. All is fulfilled. That is a whole nother. I'm studying in it of itself what it means but Jesus is saying this word gods were these laws that Moses passed sound like God gave to him will stand and not one jot. 1 till 1, 1. Will pass away until all this for field somewhat debate that all is fulfilled until he went on the cross in the second Covenant was cut I'm of that camp but then there is some who will say. Well it's not until the Earth actually pass away because he says I say it shortly to you having an earth pass away until Heaven and Earth pass away. Not one jot or one Tittle will by no means pass away from this law. All is well feel. So like I said whole nother discussion. So why overcome cliches overcome cliches?

Let's start in in Acts. We're going to jump in the ass. But reason number one of why we want overcome cliches is to understand God's word to understand God's word is one reason. We want to overcome cliches ax8 2931. And if you spend any time in or around you see life, you know, this is one of my favorite scriptures more scripture that we go to frequently acts 8:29 through 31 says been Spirit of the spirit said to Philip go near Andover. Take this chariot. Saint Philip ran to him and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah and said, do you understand what you are reading? Do you understand what you are reading? Do you understand what you're reading in? This is so cute to this discussion about cliches is because a lot of cliche scripture happens because people didn't really understand what they were reading. Let me go ahead and hit one of those cliches woman shouldn't put on the things of a man and that's how the levitical law I believe is where is found at and what they're saying give women shouldn't wear pants in so I come back and say do you understand what you are reading? Because at that time in that day, there was no such thing as pants for men and for women so clearly it was not talk about that wasn't talking about the dress attire of looking like a dressing like a man when you are a woman or dressing. Like a woman when you're a man. Yes. It may have been a it was addressing that but it was not a dressing pants. Okay. It was not a dressing pants in Soul that seem that way because do you understand what you're reading and when you read that scripture dig deeper in you get and allow God to really give you some spiritual Revelation about that scripture which will dig into I'm as it's one of the cliches will be covering. Do you want understand what you're reading? Because a lot of times people will come at you and they will quote scripture to you, but they do not understand what they have read. They just greedy gurgitate. It's something they have heard, but they have not study to show themselves approved and they do not understand what they are reading. The Phillip Came Upon the eunuch and said do you understand what you read? The unit was reading the word of God and I want to I want to paint a picture of this because when it comes down to cliche, these are not people who are just willy-nilly often just using the word of God or what-have-you, but they may be still using the word of God incorrectly. I have been there I have used the word of God incorrectly there. I said it so this guy was coming from he was an Ethiopian coming from worship. So here going to Jerusalem to worship. So he knew God he knew of God. He knew the rituals he knew what to do, but when it came to reading the word Philip had to ask him. Do you understand what you're reading? There are some of us in our lives we and we've all done it. We showed up at church. We participated in all the rituals. We've done all of the things that we were How to do we fast it every new year we've given our Titan are offering we've sung in the choir. We've been an usher. We we showed up every Sunday we've done everything like that, but then we still have to come back and say when you open your word, do you understand what you're reading? And listen the unit was honest he says and he said, how can I Unless someone guides me. How can I let someone guides me in the ask Philip to come up and sit with him? How can I let someone guides me the sad part is that some of us believe and for many years we felt that we were being guided but we really just being got it and spiritual cliches and I will dig deeper into God's word on this. He says that end in how can I let someone guides me? Fellow said do you understand what you're reading? How can I unless someone guides me? Guy ask eight 2931. That's what what to say. So let's talk about number to why we want to overcome cliches is not only to understand God's word, but also Do properly reverence God's word Isaiah 29 and 13 says this therefore the Lord said and as much as these people drawing near me with their mouth cliches are spoken with our mouths and honor me with their lips, but have removed their hearts are far from Me In Their Fear towards me and this is key in their fear toward me is taught by the commandant of Men In Their Fear toward me is tall by the commandant of men. Let me read this for you in the God's word translation to say is the Lord says these people worship me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me and their worship of me is based on rules made by humans and their worship of me is based on let me go back to the unit he knew where to go to worship, but he did not understand what he was reading. Meaning. He did not have a Godly understanding a Godly Revelations of what he was reading their Isaiah. 29-13 says in their worship of me. He's not saying we don't worship him. He saying these people worship me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me and their worship of me is based on rules made by humans.

The worst for me is based on rules made by humans. Studies humans made spiritual rules to give spiritual guidelines for the worship God but God says all of the rules that humans have given you to worship me the only allow you to worship me with your mouth and with your lips. It does not allow me to allow you to worship me from your heart because of rules of human will never touch your heart to worship God from your heart.

Number 3 while we're come cliches not only to understand God's word and to properly reverence God but also to move out of our own power to move out of our own power. Let's go to 2nd Corinthians 3:4 through 5, and it says and we have such trust through Christ towards God. It is not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God member Isaiah talks about the rules of human. We come over and 2nd Corinthians and saying listen and and we have such trust through Christ or God not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God. I've got to get away from cliches because cliches keep me in my own power of following. It does exactly what Isaiah says did keeps me in my own power. So if I'm a woman and I don't wear pants and I show up the church and I participate on the pastor's aide committee and I give my money and I'm there every Sunday and I sing in the choir then then that makes me right with God, but all of that is under your own power. All of that is under your own power and 2nd Corinthians says we don't want to do this thing in our own power, right? So not only to understand God's word not only to properly properly reverence God to move our out of our power out of our power, but To experience true life. We got to return the Corinthians in and pick up in that same chapter and we just going to go to verse 6 and versed 6s. Also who also made us sufficient. Not that was sufficient in our own power, but who also made us that God made us sufficient as Ministers of the New Covenant as Ministers of the New Covenant not the old Covenant that was beholding to the law but he made us Ministers of the New Covenant not of the letter he saying this of the New Covenant because the New Covenant is not of the letter but of the spirit the New Covenant is not of the letter but the New Covenant is of the spirit. for the letter kills But the spirit gives life. Let's say this another way for the letter of the old Covenant kills, but the spirit of the New Covenant gives life for the letter of the old Covenant kills, but the spirit of the New Covenant gives life. So if I'm going to continue to walk in cliches. A religious Dogma. I'm going to be on there the letter which kills but if I'm going to be a minister of the New Covenant

the spirit the New Covenant gives me the spit through the spirit gives life.

And I'm going to I want to be careful to not make you I don't want you to walk away believing that well, then I can't because there are some believers who say well I should only read the New Testament for with no no, no, no, no, no. No, that's not what it's saying. But we want to talk about there isn't important of the law. It's just not what we have been taught. It's not for us to live by so let me go to Galatians in 3 10 through 14 and it says and I'm reading God's word translation. It says certainly there's a curse on all who rely on their own efforts to live according to a set of Standards because scripture says whoever doesn't obey everything that is written in Moses teaching is person. He's talkin about the law. Certainly there's a curse on all who rely on their own efforts to live according to the law. Go set of Standards because scripture says whoever doesn't Abate everything that is written in Moses law everything.

What's in Moses law? They have no shrimp. What's Moses's law can't have no pork bacon. What's in the Moses's law can't have no oysters. What's the most this week? We can keep going on things that we kind of put to the side because then what we do is we cover that up with Wella receive all things with Thanksgiving. That's that's how we justify that but he said whoever doesn't obey everything that is written in Moses is teaching his curse everything. You got some wool and polyester mix the whatever you do you under the law you wrong right everything but Galatians continues and it says no one receive God's approval by Banda Los standards since the person who has God's approval will live because of faith. I want to receive God's approval by Banda Los standards.

You walking all day long no pants in that doesn't give you God's approved. You walking all day long not eating shrimp catfish in in in in in oysters in in God say that doesn't give you my approval. The person who has God's approval will live because of faith. Lowe's have nothing to do with faith. Okay laws have nothing to do with faith. at all UK Whoever obeys laws will live because of the laws kielbase if you choose the obey the law you will live because of long as you're back. I want to put it this way. There was a cliche that we stopped at one time says 55 arrive alive. There's no guarantee that if you drive 55 you going to make it to your destination? Cuz I accidentally 55 is just as dangerous in the right situation as an accident at a hundred and five.

Lowe's have nothing to do with faith, but whoever obeys laws will live because of laws here, babe. Let's go Christ paid the price to free us from the curse of curse that God's law brings by the coming curse instead of us. Scripture says everyone who is hung on a tree is cursed.

Price paid the price so that the blessing promise to Abraham will come to all the people of the world through Jesus Christ and we will receive the promise Spirit through faith. You cannot receive the spirit through law. You cannot receive the Spirit by repeatedly calling on Jesus's name with no change in your heart condition. You cannot receive the spirit because you went in and you had your you took the scripture that says having your head covered meant wearing a hat. You cannot receive the Spirit by that. You cannot receive the spirit. through the law

the promise. only comes through Jesus Christ So let's talk about the law of The Good the Bad and the Ugly the law of The Good the Bad and the Ugly pulling from Galatians 3:10 through 14. The law is All or nothing. You can't just do parts of it. The law is All or Nothing.

Number to the law does not require face. I do not have to have faith to live by the law. I do not have to have faith to live by the law.

Number three the long the gates the price paid by Christ. The lawn the gates the price paid by Christ. So the law is All or Nothing. The law does not require faith in the law and the gates the price paid by Christ. But there is something good about the law in K Galatians 3:19 through 25 says this and it's our last scripture and our last set of points what purpose then does the law serve. Cuz we understand we drop down a little bit in Galatians. We understand that that you know the law if I'm I live by the law that doesn't require Faith but it says so then what purpose then does the law serve it was added because of transgressions till the seed should come to whom the promise was made when we talked about until all was the field. It says it was added because of transgression still the seed to come to whom the promise was made and it was a pointed through Angels by the hand of a mediator. Now a mediator does not mediate for one only but God is one. Is the law being against the promises of God certainly not for if there had been a law given which could have given life truly righteousness would have been by the law. Okay. Be holy for I am Holy the one of those cliches that has nothing to do with following a whole bunch of laws. But this scripture has confined all under sin that the Promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe

But before Faith came we were kept under guard by the law before Faith came. We were kept this is talk about you usefulness of the butt before face came. We were kept under guard by the law kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. So it just the law kept us. For the faith that for the faith that will afterward be revealed. There for the long was our teacher our tutor to bring us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. But after faith is come we are no longer under the Tudor no longer under the law no longer under this teacher. So the law does have a purpose it teaches us some things it brings us to Christ is not meant to substitute for Christ. And so here's the purpose of the law and we're done to teach us boundaries. Barry has some goodness in what was shared even though it wasn't done in the full spirit and it was on the letter. The law is designed to teach us boundaries to help us understand some boundaries. The law is to teach us Christ to teach us Christ to teach his boundaries and to lead us to Christ to teach us boundaries in Toledo to Christ. That's the purpose of the law. It was never meant for us to live in it live by it is taught this dare to give us boundaries teach us about boundaries into lead us to Christ, but it takes faith. It was never to substitute Christ. It takes faith when you're living by the law. You negate the work of the cross. Unigate to work of the cross.
