Reminder to be done today by 1030am
Hope you’re enjoying this current SS study series
encourage you to go beyond normal 3-section breakdown
opportunity to discuss practical applications of defending our faith
this week’s look at truth: “There are no absolute truths”. How would you respond to that? “Are you absolutely sure of that?”
self-refuting argument.
So what is truth?
Read
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Read
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Read
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Jesus = Wordand The Word is truth. Can you defend the Bible without using the Bible?
Opportunity these weeks to review with your classes how to answer a skeptic or non-believer
must meet them where they are. Do you think you will persuade someone who does not believe the same about the Bible as you do by you quoting Scripture?
Give handout. Feel free to discuss and give out to your class
from apologetics course taken
This week also provides an opprtunity to discuss objective morals.
Moral Argument for God
Premise One: If objective moral values exist, God exists
Premise Two: Objective moral values exist.
Conclusion: God exists
Atheists have no answer for morals. Can we be good without God is much different question of can we be good without believing in God
even an atheist knows right from wrong
but if we’re no different from other animals and designed only to survive an propagate, why do we have moral conscience?
the lion does not feel guilty after eating a gazelle
Next week: Defend Jesus?
Can you defend Jesus without using the Bible?
Eight different hostile historical accounts about the life of Jesus and that he was crucified by Pilate written as early as 37 AD?
The Resurrection is one of the most attested to historical facts in all of world history.
Not just in the Gospel accounts - but by secular historians
Following week: All religions the same
If you can get a non-believer to believe Jesus existed and to show through non-biblical accounts his life, death, burial, and resurection
you are well on your way to showing the truth of and letting the work of the Holy Spirit take over.
Law of Non-Contradiction
If A is true, B is false. If Christianity is true, then <<plug in any other religion>> is false.
Use these weeks to go beyond the normal 3-part SS study verses. Equip your classes to defend their faith
will email out addition support for future weeks.
