1. Jesus’ birthday is on December 25th. True / False
Just because Christmas Day is the celebration of the birth of Christ, that doesn’t mean Jesus was born on that day. How December 25th became the birthdate of Jesus is difficult to trace, but it did not come from the Bible. The Scriptures do not tell us on exactly what day Jesus was born. Only two of the four gospels detail the events around His birth, and there’s no mention in the rest of the New Testament of anyone celebrating His birthday.
1. Jesus’ birthday is on December 25th.
Although the Bible does not state His birthday, Christians should take advantage of the Christmas season to put Christ before unbelievers because it is usually the time when people start to think about Jesus and attend a church service.
2. The three wisemen attended Jesus’ birth in the manger. True / False
True
False
First of all, the Bible never specifies that there were three wisemen. This myth came into being because the wisemen offered Jesus three gifts in : Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. It’s quite possible that there were three wisemen, but it’s also possible that there were two or at least 4 wisemen. However, the Bible never specifies it.
True
False
Second, the wisemen did not first see Jesus at His birth. They actually saw him later. In , they were going into the HOUSE, and that’s where they saw Jesus, but he was not lying in the manger.
3. Mary was forever a virgin. True / False
Perhaps there may be some of you who grew up and elevated Mary at a high standard because she was a virgin. However, Mary and Joseph actually had more children.
says Jesus had brothers and sisters.
4. After Jesus was born, he was put in a baby crib. True / False
Jesus lied in the manger. Do you know what’s a manger? It’s a feeding trough. It’s where donkeys and cattles ate their food. It’s dirty and stinky place.
Jesus was not born in a palace with a king and queen. Jesus was not born in a rich family. He wasn’t even born in a hospital. God the Son humbled Himself and came into the world, born in a poor family, born somewhere outside at night and lied on a dirty and stinky feeding trough.
This shows us how far God would go to humble Himself.
5. Baby Jesus did not cry. True / False
We hear this part of the lyrics in the Christmas Carol, “Away In A Manger,” which says “No crying he made.” The Bible does not say that baby Jesus cried or not. But, I do think that Jesus might have cried because God became human.
When my daughter was born, she cried quite a bit. And if the baby wasn’t crying, then there’s something wrong with it.
6. The birth of Jesus is found in and . True / False
It’s true. I don’t think anywhere else in the Bible that tells the story about the birth of Jesus.
7. Jesus was fully God and fully man. True / False
Jesus was the God-Man. He was truly 100% God and truly 100% man at the same time. He wasn’t born only as a man and then eventually reached his God-level. He wasn’t 50% God and 50% Man, like a demi-god.
God became man so that through death He might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil.
God became man in every respect, so that He can sympathize with our weaknesses. If you are going through difficulties in life this evening, then know that Jesus understands because He suffered and went through hardships.
Why Did I Ask You If You Knew The Christmas Story?
The main idea: Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. ()
What I hoped to show you is that there are a lot of myths that you may believe about the Christmas story that aren’t true and facts.
The culture, the church, traditions and sometimes Christmas carols get the Christmas story wrong.
The culture, the church, traditions and sometimes Christmas carols get the Christmas story wrong. We often take those things for granted that we start to believe that those myths are true because it’s everywhere around us.
Maybe you’re thinking, “Well, so what if I got some of the Christmas story wrong. It’s not a big deal. Is it?”
We are encouraged to Do our best to present ourselves to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, RIGHTLY handling the word of truth. In other words, we need to know the Christmas story accurately and with precision.
The only place, the only book, the only text and the only words that never get the Christmas story wrong is the Bible. Not only should we know the Christmas story with correctly, we should read, know and study the Bible carefully.
There are many of you in this room. I would assume that there may be some of you that don’t know much about the Bible or perhaps don’t even believe in the Bible. That’s okay! You’re welcomed here. You’re free to question and challenge the Christian faith.
But, I’m here to tell you that the Bible is God’s Word.
This Christmas season, however, I would challenge you to consider Jesus Christ.
The most important question in life that you need to ask yourself is this: Who is Jesus Christ? Jesus Christ is asking YOU, “Who Do You Say That I Am?” How would you answer that question? Where will you find the answer to that question?
Jesus Christ is asking YOU, “Who Do You Say That I Am?” How would you answer that question? Where will you find the answer to that question?
C.S Lewis once said, “Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.”
How would you answer that question? Where will you find the answer to that question?
Why do Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus during this Christmas Season?
The Bible says:
Go and examine the Bible. Test it. Challenge it.
In the Bible. In the Bible.
1. Jesus is God
2. Jesus is Lord
3. Jesus is Saviour
4. Jesus is the Promised Messiah.
5. Jesus is the fulfiller of Old Testament Prophecy.
6. Jesus is the Redeemer
In the Bible says, Jesus said:
7. Jesus is the Light Of The World
1. I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
2. I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
3. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.
4. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
5. I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?
6. I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
7. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Gospel
Although and tells us the story of Jesus’ birth, other parts of the Bible EXPLAIN why Jesus came.
: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.
You need to be saved. Why? Believe or not, you’re a sinner enslaved by your sin and the evil one. Sin is our desperate problem. Sin has spiritually blinded, deafened, and hardened our hearts to the spiritual things of God.
Hence, God sent His perfect sinless Son into the world to die on the cross as a sacrifice for your sins. On the cross, Jesus took the punishment of your sins - the punishment that you deserve; the righteous Person died for the unrighteous sinners. In God’s power, He raised Jesus from the dead on the 3rd day, conquering Satan, sin, and death. He alone gives new life, forgiveness of sins and His righteousness to those who repent and trust in His work done through His death and resurrection.
Jesus is calling you to repent and believe in the gospel or the good news. Being a Christian is liberating. Being a Christian could be challenging, but it is a deeply joyful and satisfying life because you can have a relationship with God. It is a life full of blessing when we live not for ourselves, but for King Jesus.
Through Jesus, you can receive total forgiveness of sin and His righteousness by placing your faith in Jesus and repenting of your sins.
It’s a call to denying your
