THE WORSHIP SERIES
LESSON 3
INTRODUCTION
To become the kind of worshippers that the Father is looking for—we must worship Him in spirit and truth.
—GOD IS A SPIRIT; AND THEY THAT WORSHIP HIM MUST WORSHIP HIM IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH.
This means that our worship will be called to go beyond the merely emotional setting but it is a call for our hearts to engaged; and empty ritual to be overthrown.
That our lives become enflamed with the fire of God, we are too become that living sacrifice that is being presented to God which is our reasonable service.
God invites us to worship Him in spirit and in truth but we are also to worship Him in the beauty of holiness.
—GIVE UNTO THE LORD THE GLORY DUE UNTO HIS NAME ; WORSHIP THE LORD IN THE BEAUTY OF HOLINESS.
God seeking worshippers that are willing to give all their whole heart, mind and soul.
We must worship Him:
· With regenerated spirits
—FOR GOD IS MY WITNESS, WHOM I SERVE WITH MY SPIRIT IN THE GOSPEL OF HIS SON,

LESSON 3
The word serve conveys the concept of worship as well as works with strong emphasis on the power of the new birth that all old man is dead and God has raise us alive and well.
We now sing a new song, a new spiritual song.
—SPEAKING TO YOURSELVES IN PSALMS AND HYMNS AND SPIRITUAL SONGS, SINGING AND MAKING MELODY IN YOUR HEART TO THE LORD.
· With renewed minds
—AND BE NOT CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD; BUT BE YE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND
Not only do we need to have a change of mind in repentance but worshipping God opens the doorway to a progressive reconditioning of the mind.
Because as we worship Him we are transformed from glory to glory by the Spirit of the Lord.
—BUT WE ALL, WITH OPEN FACE BEHOLDING AS IN A GLASS THE GLORY OF THE LORD, ARE CHANGED INTO THE SAME IMAGE FROM GLORY TO GLORY, EVEN AS BY THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD.
· With revived emotions
—AND WHATSOEVER YE DO, DO IT HEARTILY, AS TO THE LORD, AND NOT UNTO MEN.

LESSON 3
Operate with all your passion,
(READ IT)
So if I am going to shout and clap my hands unto the Lord. I will do at my best.
—O CLAP YOUR HANDS, ALL YE PEOPLE: SHOUT UNTO GOD WITH THE VOICE OF TRIUMPH.
If I am going to praising Him out loud with the congregation then I will do it at my very best.
—MY PRAISE SHALL BE OF THEE IN THE GREAT CONGREGATION: I WILL PAY MY VOWS BEFORE THEM THAT FEAR HIM.
If I am going to be silent before the Lord it will be my very best>
—BUT THE LORD IS IN HIS HOLY TEMPLE: LET ALL THE EARTH KEEP SILENCE BEFORE HIM.
I will do my very best unto the Lord.
LOOK AT —MY SOUL LONGETH YEA, EVEN FAINTETH FOR THE COURTS OF THE LORD; MY HEART AND MY FLESH CRIETH OUT FOR THE LIVING GOD

LESSON 3
· With rededicated bodies
DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT YOUR BODY IS THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT WHO IS IN YOU, WHOM YOU HAVE FROM GOD, AND YOR ARE NOT YOUR OWN? FOR YOU WERE BOUGHT AT A PRICE: THEREFORE GLORIFY GOD IN YOUR BODY AND IN YOUR SPIRIT WHICH ARE GOD’S.
(talk about the tabernacle of Moses, and the temple of Solomon)
The spirit of God dwell there but now we are the temple of the living God, we are the place of Worship.
LET RIGHT NOW WORSHIP HIM.
Why do we raise our Hands?
The Bible show us four aspects of the purpose of upraised hands.
1. CONFESSION: ACKNOWLEDGING WHOSE SIDE WE ARE ON.
Look at —AND ABRAM SAID TO THE KING OF SODOM, I HAVE LIFT UP MINE HAND UNTO THE LORD, THE MOST HIGH GOD, THE POSSESSOR OF HEAVEN AND EARTH.
This is the first instance in the Bible of hands being raised in the name of the Lord.
And it is Abraham who lifts his hands as a confession of his commitment to the Lord.
Abraham is returning from battle just rescuing his nephew Lot and others who have been taken captive from Sodom.

LESSON 3
On their way home Abraham was confronted by the pagan King of Sodom who wants the people and told Abraham that He could keep all the goods but not the People.
Abraham made it clear which side he was on, refusing to identified with them. He raised his hand unto the Lord.
This is a biblically confirmation of abiding commitment.
2. CONFLICT: GAINING VICTORY IN SPIRITUAL WARFARE
—AND IT CAME TO PASS WHEN MOSES HELD UP HIS HAND, THAT ISRAEL PREVAILED AND WHEN LET DOWN HIS HAND, AMALEK PREVAILED.
The stretching forth of Moses’ hand provides us with one of the greatest examples of intercessory prayer
While the battle against the Amalekites is raging in the valley below, Moses help up his hand
(tell the story)
The greatest summons in the Bible to intercessory prayer is found in:
—I WILL THEREFORE THAT MEN PRAY EVERY WHERE, LIFTING UP HOLY HANDS, WITHOUT WRATH AND DOUBTING.

3. CONFRONTATION: OFFERING PRAISE NO MATTER THE TRAIL.
LOOK AT —BECAUSE THY LOVINGKINDNESS IS BETTER THANLIFE, MY LIPS SHALL PRAISE THEE. (4) THUS WILL I BLESS THEE WHILE I LIVE: I WILL LIFT UP MY HANDS IN THY NAME.
David was running in the wilderness of Judah, running for his life, but while he was running he was praising God,
He was saying it does not matter what trail, I am face with, I will praise the Lord.
Reaching to God with upraised hands in times of trail, with a song of praise is an invitation to His almightiness to lift us beyond our trail into the place of soul-rest and inner confidence.
We too need to lift up our hand in times of trouble and praise Him.
4. BLESSING: REACHING OUT TO OTHERS.
—(READ IT)
Having raised his hands to heaven , Solomon then extends his hands in blessing over his people.
This is an act of blessing toward others, is a profound gestures. Hands that come out of the presence of the living God can be extended to others in life and grace as Jesus promised.
