The Divine Purpose

. lot of the time around Christmas we tend to focus on the scriptures that speak of the birth of Jesus Christ, and the circumstances surrounding his birth
. Born to the Virgin Mary and her husband Joseph
. Born in a manger/cave surrounded by animals
. Visited by the 3 wise men who brought gifts (followed the star to find Jesus)
. And for those of us who are believers Christmas time is the time of year that we stop and recognize that our Savior Jesus Christ was born.
. Today i want to take some time to look and and talk about why Jesus was born!
. why would the God who created the entire world, gave life to us as humans, come down to the earth in the form of a man to be hung on a cross and experience one of the most painful deaths known to man?
. Because when it all comes down to it the reason why is all that matters!!
. Its like when someone tells you some crazy out there story of something they did or want to do (
. the reason why somebody does something matters ( If somebody gives you a gift because they have to like a work/school KK gift, it doesn't mean much, but when a friend or family member gives you a gift that is something you have been needing/wanting for a long time, it means so much more because the reason they gave it to you was their love for you!)
Romans 5:7–8 NKJV
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:7–8 NKJV
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
. When God created the world, and created us his people his design and intention was that we would be in community we him, that we would be close to him and know him intimately.
. But as we know things did not quite work out like that, sin came into the world and brought about a divide between God and his people.
. But from the moment of separation, God begin a work that is detailed to us through scripture of how he planned on restoring US/ His people to relationship with him.
. Which culminates in Jesus Christ, the very one whose birth we celebrate at this time of year
2 Corinthians 5:18–19 NKJV
Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
. The Divine reason for why Jesus had to come and be born as man, and ultimately die as a sacrifice on the cross, was so that we as God children could once again be restored to him, that again we could know him and be in relationship with him.
. That each individual person could have a real relationship with God! not one that is lived out through a priest, or a certain choosen group of people who heard form God
. but that each and every person can know God themselves and communicate with him, and have him involved in our lives.
. but for that to happen a substantial price needed to be paid. throughout the old testament people paid for their sins with animal sacrifices, there had to be blood.
so the only way that all of humanity could be saved and redeemed was with a once and for all time blood sacrifice.
. and the only one worthy/ able to pay that price was God himself which is why he came to earth and this is why we celebrate the birth of Jesus every year.
. this is the moment that our God made himself like us, so that he could sacrifice himself for us, so that we could be reconciled to him
Matthew 20:28 NKJV
just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
. So the divine purpose for the birth of Jesus Christ, is not so that we have a nice story to tell, or some myth that we carry on, Jesus Christ was born, so that he could be sacrificed/ransomed for our sin so that we could be reunited with God and again be in relationship with him.
. That is the DIVINE PURPOSE
. Even beyond this divine purpose, their is also a Divine reason why God was willing to do this
John 3:15–17 NKJV
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
John 3:16–17 NKJV
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
