Just For The Record
Nehemiah chapter 5

I took counsel with myself, and I brought charges against the nobles and the officials. I said to them, “You are exacting interest, each from his brother.” And I held a great assembly against them
The people were at a low point and was trying to hustle each other to get by.
Exodus 22:25 ESV
“If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be like a moneylender to him, and you shall not exact interest from him.
Nehemi

Just For The Record
Nehemiah 5:14–15 ESV
Moreover, from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year to the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes the king, twelve years, neither I nor my brothers ate the food allowance of the governor. The former governors who were before me laid heavy burdens on the people and took from them for their daily ration forty shekels of silver. Even their servants lorded it over the people. But I did not do so, because of the fear of God.

Nehemiah 5:1
Nehemiah 5:16–17 ESV
I also persevered in the work on this wall, and we acquired no land, and all my servants were gathered there for the work. Moreover, there were at my table 150 men, Jews and officials, besides those who came to us from the nations that were around us.
Nehemiah 5:18 ESV
Now what was prepared at my expense for each day was one ox and six choice sheep and birds, and every ten days all kinds of wine in abundance. Yet for all this I did not demand the food allowance of the governor, because the service was too heavy on this people.
For the record - Nehemiah had to give a run down of his Service of Sacrifice.
For 12 years he didn’t eat the food allowance of the governor
He persevered in the work on the wall… - He didn’t feel like he had a blank check (Stewardship)
He acquired no land
He had to reminded himself - “Prepared for me each day was one ox and six choice sheep and birds, and every ten days all kinds of wine in abundance.”
“Yet for all this I did not demand the food allowance of the governor” - “Because the service was too heavy on this people.”
Nehemiah had a heart for his city and his people
Your Record
When I look back over this year - I have to be honest:
I have given and not wanted anything in return
I have given money
cooked meals
Opened my home
given rides
bought items - No receipt for a reimbursement
I helped those who I know didn’t like me
I helped people that I didn’t even know
Given to different organizations
I helped those who appreciated it and those who didn’t
I didn’t charge for everything
I bought clothes for kids
Took them to the movies - The fair - Pizza
I just love people - I hate to see people struggling -
But.... Sometimes I feel empty and Sometimes I feel like I’m not appreciated!
Just A Reminder
Nehemiah 5:19 ESV
Remember for my good, O my God, all that I have done for this people.
Sometimes I feel like God has forgotten me!
I just want to remind Him - Remember Me
Remember for my good - O My God,
Remember all that I have done for this people…
God’s Reminder

Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
