Why do we celebrate Christmas?

The prophet Isaiah foretold “A child is born to us, a son is given to us, and authority will be on his shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be vast authority and endless peace for David’s throne and for his kingdom, establishing and sustaining it with justice and righteousness now and forever. The zeal of the Lord of heavenly forces will do this.” ().
A child is born to us,
As Christmas approaches, we should shift our hearts, minds and souls toward Jesus Christ through a renewed understanding of Scripture not available to early Christians. Jesus Christ was the child God and was given authority of this world. And while His earthly father was Joesph, the gospels established the link between Jesus and King David allowing the visions of Isaiah’s to become a reality of the kingdom of God created he for each of us.
Also, as Jesus’ earthly ministry was coming to an end, He asked the disciples who people thought he was in , and the disciples told him “some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, and still others one of the prophets. He asked them, And what about you? Who do you say that I am? Peter answered, you are the Christ.”
a son is given to us,
Towards the end of his earthly ministry, Jesus asked the disciples who people thought he was in , and the disciples told him “some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, and still others one of the prophets. He asked them, And what about you? Who do you say that I am? Peter answered, you are the Christ.”
Do you believe Jesus is Christ and Lord? Christmas should be a time we honor the birth of Jesus as well as anticipate his return to fulfill God’s plan for humanity. However, secular views have taken from the original purpose of Christmas and allowed media and big business to take control of this season and in the process, we have lost the purpose of this time of year.
and authority will be on his shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be vast authority and endless peace for David’s throne and for his kingdom, establishing and sustaining it with justice and righteousness now and forever. The zeal of the Lord of heavenly forces will do this.
Christ should be a time to honor the birth of Jesus Christ and the knowledge that He will return one day to fulfill God’s plan for humanity.
According to the apostle Paul, for believers, “their is one God the Father. All things come from him, and we belong to him. And their is one Lord Jesus Christ. All things exist through him, and we live through him.” (). Rather then worry about material items of the world, what if we began to embrace Jesus Christ as a society and in the process live our lives through Him? Christmas should be a reminder of how “the Son is the image of the invisible God, the one who is first over all creation, Because all things were created by him: both in the heavens and on the earth, the things that are visible and the things that are invisible. Whether they are thrones or powers, or rulers or authorities, all things were created through him and for him. He existed before all things, and all things are held together in him. He is the head of the bod, the church, who is the beginning, the one who is firstborn from among the dead so that he might occupy the first place in everything. Because all the fullness of God was pleased to live in him, and he reconciled all things to himself through him— whether things on earth or in the heavens. He brought peace through the blood of his cross.” ().
He will be named
It is with this additional knowledge, that today we should desire to take back Christmas and demonstrated to the world the importance of embracing Jesus Christ during this time of year as we build to Easter honor His resurrection. states, “you, Lord, laid the earth’s foundations in the beginning, and the heavens are made by your hands. They will pass away, but you remain.”
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Jesus fulfilled God’s promise of a Messiah and Christ to Moses and then extending it to all. When we sing “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus” by John Wesley, we are reminded the future king would not rule Isreal but instead rule the entire world. While Jewish leadership would not understand, Christ met the need’s of the world past, present, and future as the prophet Isiah stated, “on that day, the root of Jesse will stand as a signal to the peoples. The nations will seek him out, and his dwelling will be glorious. On that day, the Lord will extend his hand a second time to reclaim the survivors of God’s people who are left from Assyria and from Egypt, from Pathros, Cush, Elam, Shinar, Hamath, and from the coastlands of the sea.”
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
