Have yourself a merry little Christmas

Are you ready for Christmas?

Matthew 25:2–4 ESV

Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps.

Is there room under your tree or at your table?

Too much to do - lots of people: Like that old Alabama song, I’m in a hurry to get things done.

Yes

Not enough presents: Maybe its because UPS & Fedex aren’t getting your Amazon orders fast enough. It couldn’t be the USPS! Then again, it could just be that there isn’t enough money to have lots of presents…

Too many empty chairs: Over the years you start to notice the chairs that sit empty. Loved ones who no longer come to Christmas, maybe they moved. Maybe they’re gone. & even with all the full and wonderful memories it breaks the heart a little bit (maybe a lot) because they are gone.

Jesus is preparing a place for you

John 14:1–3 ESV

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

Jesus is inviting you home for Christmas - see real soon, he’ll be back. To bring us home. And thats the best part. Oh man, when that door opens, and you feel the warmth and see the light. There is a feast with a grand table with no empty seats. We all will be home together.

Jesus stands at the door and knocks

Revelation 3:20 ESV

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

Until that day, Jesus promises to come and celebrate with us. And He gives us the Holy Spirit (Key) A reminder that one day it will be time to go home, so just come on in because you’re family. & Family has been waiting for you.

Ephesians 1:13–14 ESV

In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

From now until then, we will celebrate in hope together. So hang a star at the highes We will be merry because we have with us every day the promise of that coming Christmas.
