-      Historical proof for the “Historical Jesus”:

1)         Josephus

2)         Tacitus

3)         Suetonius

4)         Pliny

-      Biblical proof for Jesus’ being God’s son

Since God exists and the Bible is the Word of God, then Scriptures may be used as evidence.

1.          Jesus claims to be Deity.

John 10:30 – “I and the Father are one.”

2.          Others claimed that He was Deity.

Matt. 16:18 – “Thou art the Christ, the Son

                         of the living God.”

Matt. 27:54 – “Truly this was the Son of

                                  God.”

John 20:28 – “My Lord and my God.”

3.          Signs and miracles confirm that He was/is Deity.

Purpose of Miracles:

To confirm that the words being spoken are the words of God (cf. John 20:30-31; Heb. 2.1-3)

Jesus performed miracles:

     In the Gospel of John:

1.          Water to Wine (2)

2.          Healing of the Nobleman’s Son (4)

3.          Healing of the Impotent Man (5)

4.          Feeding the 5000 (6)

5.          Walking on Water (6)

6.          Healing of the Blind Man (9)

7.          Raising of Lazarus (11)

The people could not deny the miracles (cf. Acts 2.22ff.)

4.          His life was a perfect fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy.

- Over 300 OT prophecies relating to Jesus

- Perfect Fulfillment by chance:

   1/84,000,000,000,000,000,000,00

0,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,

000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,

000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,

000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,

000,000,000 of 1 per cent

5.          His resurrection closed the case once and for all.

The Testimony:

1 Corinthians 15:1 – 8

   12 Apostles (v. 5)

   500 Disciples (v. 6)

   James (v. 7)

   Paul (v. 8)

The Empty Tomb:

1)         “Swoon Theory”

2)         Friends Stole the Body

3)         Enemies Stole the Body

4)         The Tomb was Found Empty

What are we to make of Jesus?

1.          Liar – claimed to be God, but wasn’t

2.          Lunatic – believed that He was God

3.          Lord – was indeed God

- If this is the case, then we must follow Him -
