Been thinking a lot about Death.
Eddie’s passing, another friend, Becky on hospice
People say this stuff shouldn’t happen at Christmas but why?
Oh that’s so horrible you, how can that happen to you on August 12.
Not even holidays are that important, how can this happen to you by July 4
It’s time to think deeply
Why does Christmas mean so much?
Why does Christmas mean so much?
35 The angel replied to her: “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.
7 Then she gave birth to her firstborn son, and she wrapped him tightly in cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
It’s not the birth that is as important as the resurrection.
Luke 2:
It
See his death and his resurrection, means that all those who believe and follow Him are saved.
1 Corinthians 15:
53 In the resurrection scheme of things, this has to happen: everything perishable taken off the shelves and replaced by the imperishable, this mortal replaced by the immortal. 54 Then the saying will come true:
Death swallowed by triumphant Life!
55 Who got the last word, oh, Death?
Oh, Death, who’s afraid of you now?
56 It was sin that made death so frightening and law-code guilt that gave sin its leverage, its destructive power. 57 But now in a single victorious stroke of Life, all three—sin, guilt, death—are gone, the gift of our Master, Jesus Christ. Thank God!
58 With all this going for us, my dear, dear friends, stand your ground. And don’t hold back. Throw yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for him is a waste of time or effort.
it is because of this fact we hold by faith: Jesus is active today, the Holy Sprit is active today, God the Father is bringing about His glory today!
And God is entering your lives tonight to remind you, He changed all the rules to be with You.
And that
38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,
38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
It’s because of this my friend can be ready for resurrection glory as she prepares for death.
It’s because of Jesus that I know God’s glory will be told out of this hell and horror of losing Eddie.
It’s because of the way God is, that I know God brought you to this point to hear this hope.
Because its nice to live in a society where December 25th is celebrated as meaning something.
But to a person who follows Jesus December 26th is the same kind of day, filled with hope, peace, desires for love, kindness, awareness of God.
And you know August 12? Same kind of day too. August 13, 14.
But its not that for everyone is it? For most even here the next day we will role out the Valentine’s Candy, the alcohol for New Years, and back to work.
You see Jesus came to us, but His hope isn’t automatic. This life doesn’t just happen.
57 But now in a single victorious stroke of Life, all three—sin, guilt, death—are gone, the gift of our Master, Jesus Christ. Thank God!
But do you accept the gift?
