Matthew 19:26 NLT
Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”
Many of you are coming to the end of the year there are promises that God has given you that haven’t happend yet.
Just because you have not seen the promise fulfilled does not mean it is not going to happen.
Most of the time we do not see God working behind the scenes. Instead we just see what is in front of us today
As a matter of fact sometimes we are so worried about the future that we miss what God is doing today.
Matthew 6:34 NLT
“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
So many people worry that it makes them sick. It leaves them discouraged.
As Christians when we worry about tomorrow we miss what God is wanting to do in our lives today.
Now you may say I have to plan.
Planning and worrying are two different things. We should plan and prepare but not let the future trouble us.
Philippians 4:6 MEV
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with gratitude, make your requests known to God.
You have problems, I have problems. Let God have them.
Reach out to God and let Him take them off of you.
God leads and guides us. When we let that worry and anxiety rule then we are not letting God be who He wants to be in our lives.
2. God may me growing you before He fulfills the Promise He gave you.
What areas of your life do you need to grow in.
One of the biggest areas that people need to grow in is relying on God.
Are you trying to do it all yourself.
Are you trying to make God’s promise come true by your works?
3. God is fulfilling His promise but you won’t see all He is doing until you look back.
Most of the time I would tell someone don’t look at your past look at your future.
In this case I say look at your past.
See what God has been doing to fulfill His promise.
Let me give you an example.
2014 Christy and I trained to plant a church
2015 Sold Neenas house, purchased house in Maumelle, filed paperwork to start a church, started working toward $25,000 matching grant
2016 Didn’t get Middle School, Secured Maumelle Event Center, September started church, October matched grant,
2017 Purchased trailer for equipment
2018 Rented permanent location
2019 Finished renovations
You see at the time it was happening it was hard to see what God was doing but today it is easy.
The same can be said about most of the Promises God gives us.
Looking at them today they are impossible, but with God!
What is the promise God gave you?
Write it down, don’t forget it.
If He has already fulfilled a promise in your life ask Him what is the next thing He wants to do?
4. If we don’t ask Him to fulfill His promise He gave us He will not force it on us.
You see when He gave me the promise of planting a church in Maumelle if I had not accepted the promise, acted on the promise, and asked Him to fulfill it He would not have.
God is a Good God. He does not force His promises on us.
Look at Abraham, David.
How about the Disciples?
What did they do to receive the Promise of the Father, the Holy Spirit? They asked!
He didn’t force the Baptism in the Holy Spirit on believers instead He listened when they asked
5. We must wait.
Again when you look at the people I just mentioned what you will see with all of them is that they had to wait.
Don’t think that you are any different than anyone else.
In a culture of fast food, cable tv, Uber, and cell phones we have to go against the cultural norm and wait.
Enjoy God. Enjoy how He is growing you. Talk to Him. Don’t rush Him.
Treat him with respect and love.
Let Him know that what is important to you is that He is a Good Father.
Love Him and let Him love you.
Know that He is in control and rest in His timing not your busy life.
