Things around us are often shaking, including the world, our circumstances and our confidence. At any moment the ground could drop out from beneath us. So we need a stronger hope and a firmer footing. Because one day the world will fall away – God promises to shake the heavens and the earth (until everything unwanted drops out), so we need the confidence of belonging to something unshakeable – an unshakeable kingdom. Thanks to Jesus and his blood, we are part of a better covenant, coming to a better mountain, in an everlasting kingdom. In him, we can worship God in thankfulness and awe, under his rule of justice, and without fear of his wrath or rejection.
