Jesus Birth: How It All Went Down

The Dilemma v. 18-19

The discovery of Mary’s pregnancy.

While she was betrothed to Joseph

Before they had sexual relations

Fathered by the Holy Spirit

Joseph intent to divorce (terminating the engagement, sending her away), secretly.

Because he was just (righteous man, one who acted in accordance with what God requires.

Unwilling, no desire to shame, to disgrace her publicly, that is to damage her reputation by exposing her supposed illicit action to public scrutiny.

The Dream v. 20-23

An angel of the Lord, a supernatural being created by God to serve Him, often functions as a messenger, appeared in a dream.

Dream is a series of mental images, thoughts, and emotions occuring during sleep.

As he pondered what has happened.

The angel spoke

Joseph and connection to David, connect Jesus to David.

Do not fear, be afraid or feel anxious or apprehensive about marrying Mary.

Reason is she’s pregnant by Holy Spirit.

The prediction

A son

Name is Jesus

He will save

This fulfillment of Scripture.

God is with us John 1:14

The Dignity v. 24-25

He carry out the angels orders.

When woke up

He married heer

Didn’t have relations with her

until after

He name Him Jesus.

This happened because he was a just man.
