For Bible Scholars
Philippians was wrote by the Apostle Paul in Rome around 64 A.D.
Paul is telling the brethren in Philippians to rejoice in the Lord and Jesus Christ and not to put confidence in the flesh. Paul had a pedigree that he might have confidence in his flesh, because he was circumcised the eighth day of the stock of Israel of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; he was a persecutor of the church before his conversion on the road to Damascus. Paul stated that all of his accomplishments he had obtained, did not mean a thing, and that the most important thing in life is being what God had called him to do. He also stated the he had not achieved perfection in Christ, and that he was still striving for his salvation even though he had done so many things in the early church.
When we first received salvation we were on fire for Christ
Going to church when ever the doors were open
Praying regularly
Studying the Word of God daily
Witnessing to everyone we met
Our conversations were holy and always about God and the church
Now, we are like the Pharisees and the Sadducees we have allowed all types of things into the church. We have a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof (). Today we are the hypocrites of times pass
We have lowered the standards of God
We are being tolerant of things that God called sin
We are being politically correct on issues that clearly going against the Word of God
We are promoting ourselves and not God
We have become complacent with our salvation
We lack enthusiasm for the things of God
The church today danger in a state of being lukewarm n of being spue out of the mouth of God. (Revelations 3:15-16)
