The John Jump
Introduction:
And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
The New King James Version Chapter 1
And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
When most people think of Excitement, they think of things that entertain them. It’s fun and exciting to go to a ball game when our team is winning. What about an amusement park where there are roller coaster?. How about the excitement of a child being born? The definition of excitement is, “a feeling of great enthusiasm and eagerness .” What I know about being exited is that it draws you back into it over and over again. I don’t know about you but, I like the feeling of excitement.
As I grow in this Life I find myself evaluating the energy that I put into events. Does my time deserve the investment that I make into meaningless endeavors? What should I find my excitement in? Before we go any further, let me clear something up. A person can find entertainment to be exciting but that can be short lived. What I want us to examine today is what should draw our attention and cause us to spill over with joy.
The story that we will examine today is one that may be over looked for its valuable lesson if not careful. When Mary entered the room where Elisabeth was, John leaped in here womb. The excitement of that moment not only cause the baby to move, it also had a lasting effect on his life and those around him until his death. The Bible reminds us that Jesus spoke of John in what we may consider a flattering way when he said;
“Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
John leaped at the very presence of Jesus! When thinking about this scene it should drive us to ask this question,
Does the presence of God move us?
Does the presence of God move us?
Outline:
He Motivates Us To Take Notice
He Motivates Us To Take Notice
“At this also my heart trembles, And leaps from its place.
Job was in the thick of his thesis to his friends when he reminds them that of the power of God. In Chapter 36 Job is reflecting on the awesome power and Autority that God has and he lets the men know that God motives his heart to leap from it’s place. “That is true excitement.”
God’s awesomeness demands we pay attention.
Does the move of God around you get your attention? Here are several ways God my get your attention.
Here are several ways God my get your attention.
1. A Restless Spirit
Sometimes God gets our attention by making us restless
2. A Spoken Word
God also gets our attention by using the words of others. The Lord gave a message both to young Samuel and to the old priest, Eli, through this method (). If several people in a short span of time begin telling you the same thing, then ask the Lord if He is trying to speak to you through them.
3. An Unusual Blessing
God may bless us in an unusual way to gain our attention.
The real question is, when he does get your attention what do is cause you to do, Sit or leap?
He Lifts Us To Our Feet in Praise

Now as the ark of the Lord came into the City of David, Michal, Saul’s daughter, looked through a window and saw King David leaping and whirling before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart.
1.The presence of the Lord demands a reaction.
a. David found himself over joyed in that he had to move when the Presence of the Lord was in the place
Here are several emotions that is generated when God moves around us
Happiness
a smile comes from Happiness, it an
A smile comes from Happiness, it an a natural response to something that excites a person. If you can’t smile in the presence of the lord maybe you are like Michal.
Anticipation
Anticipating what may come next is exciting when we are engulfed by the Lord. If you can’t anticipate, maybe you are like Michal.
Joy
c. Joy
Joy is cultivated in the presence of God. If you don’t have Joy maybe you are like Michal.
When a person enters the presents of God, he/she will do one of two things. Act like David and dance to the tune the lord is giving, or act like Michal and reject overwhelming emotion that accompanies the presence of God. Who will you be?
