intro:

we are absolutely living in a day and age where we think we are good people...

many so called christians walk around and act like they are people without sin and who do no wrong when the truth is really a lot different

we say we are not sinful and whatever sin problems we have we can overcome on our own

we can reform and even regenerate our own lives without outside help from god

we have the power to be decent moral and responsible people

we say we have the power to please god within ourselves

we’ve made up a set of moral values that we have honestly believed we are the moral standard for when the reality is much different

we reject the idea we are in need of someone to die for our sins.... and those who have accepted christ have by & large rejected the idea that they need to continue to apply the gospel to their lives and repent to be right with god

we are sin-filled and depraved… we are rejected by god… we cannot reach god for approval and even if we could he would not approve us.... all of that is “old fashioned” and not very nice to todays church folks....

this idea needs to be stopped dead in its tracks…

millions are dying and going to hell because the church no longer wants to admit we are sinners and in doing that 2 things happens

we become idiots who think too much of ourselves and think we are above reproach

we stop preaching repentance because how can we (or anyone like us) be that bad?!?

and those ideologies and false teachings need stopped dead in their tracks today...

i have 2 points and i wont keep you long at all....

I. we do have sin…

1 John 1:8 KJV 1900

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

the word sin is singular because its talking about the root of sin… not the individual sins of our lives

we all have that root of sin in us....

Romans 5:12 KJV 1900

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

we are born of adam and being born of adam we have the sin of adam.... we are all sinnners

saved people you are sinners too so stop denying it

we have this idea that we alone are good people in the world today and we alone have the ability to save ourselves if the good out weighs the bad at the end of our lives

but the problem with that is even a little unrighteousness is fully unrighteous in the eyes of god

i know i know grandma so and so was the sweetest most wonderful woman that ever lived...

i know we all have this type of person in our lives but without Christ they were seen as unrighteous in the eyes of god

if you drop

also we cant control our sin no matter how hard we try....

over and over again i’ve seen it and i’ve done it

i’ve been the person believing i could overcome my sin and i’ve watched people believe they could overcome their sin

but the truth is on my own i will fall and fail in my sin every time and i’m sure you are the same way because you have the same sin problem i have...

you may have different symptoms, but the root of sin is the same...

but god gave us a way t over come this problem… if we will listen to him...

II. we must confess our sins

1 John 1:9 KJV 1900

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

and this is an absolute and undeniable thing here...

so many of us have minimized sin so much we don’t think its so bad anymore...

we deny our sins and in doing so deny ourselves the forgiveness offered from christ

lost people that will damn you to hell

saved people you wont lose your salvation but you will miss out on so many of the blessings god has for you living like this...

forgiveness is a huge thing we overlook too

when we are forgiven the guilt of the sin is taken off us…

we are justified and counted as having died with christ and lived with him and risen together with him

he takes the weight of our sin on himself and we are free from it

we are cleaned because of being forgiven...

all the dirt filth and contamination of sin is gone when we allow christ to forgive us our sin

and how do we know this is true? because god is not a liar…

he is faithful when we are not… he is righteous when we are not, he will and does keep his word when we don’t

he takes the unrighteous of this world and makes us righteous

he takes the glory of his son and places it on us because we have believed in his son as the savior of man

conclusion:

we have become a people who claim we don’t sin.... lost and saved alike....

the outcome of this lie is different for both types of people...

lost ppl: you will die ad spend eternity in hell because of your sins

you will open your eyes in torment and it will be unending because thats what hell is

you will be judged and found unrighteous and because of the righteousness of god he will send you to hell because of sin

saved ppl: you wont lose salvation but you will miss out on so much

you will miss the blessings of this life and rewards of heaven

you will mis out on the opportunities to serve god and see souls saved and lives changed for his glory

today lets just be real.... how many of us are living in unrepentant sin??

how many saved folks need to get their lives right with god?

how many love folks need to be saved today from their sins?
