Looking Back <Looking Forward -> Isaiah 63:7-9 I will recount the gracious deeds of the Lord, the praiseworthy acts of the Lord, because of all that the Lord has done for us, and the great favor to the house of Israel that he has shown them according to his mercy, according to the abundance of his steadfast love. Isaiah 63:7 For he said, “Surely they are my people, children who will not deal falsely”; and he became their savior in all their distress. Isaiah 63:8 It was no messenger or angel but his presence that saved them; in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old. Isaiah 63:9 For he said, “Surely they are my people, children who will not deal falsely Isaiah 63:8 Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, rescue the oppressed, defend the orphan, plead for the widow Isaiah 1:16-17 How this faithful city has become unfaithful! She that was full of justice, righteousness lodged in her— but now murderers! Your silver has become dross, your wine is mixed with water. Isaiah 1:21-22 Your princes are rebels and companions of thieves. Everyone loves a bribe and runs after gifts. They do not defend the orphan, and the widow’s cause does not come before them. Isaiah 1:23 For he said, “Surely they are my people, children who will not deal falsely Isaiah 63:8 according to the abundance of his steadfast love = Hesed - ‫חֶסֶד‬ according to the abundance of his Never-Stopping, Never Giving Up, Unbreaking, Always and Forever Love Isaiah 63:7 and he became their savior in all their distress. It was no messenger or angel but his presence that saved them; in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old. Isaiah 63:8-9
