Christ - The True Shepherd

Introduction

I) Christ in the Covenant (v. 8)

Jesus is our Greatest Possession

He is the property of every believer

He is ours in all His attributes

He is ours in all His offices

Prophet

Priest

King

Savior

Peace

He is ours in all His Works

He is ours, in the very person of Christ

A wife loves her husband

His belongings

His house

safety

love

affection

But she loves his person 1st

Just as we love Christ for all he has done

We love Him for His person!

He is the Covenant for the coming Sinner

Sinner lay hold of the Cross

“Nothing in my hand I bring,

Simply to the cross I cling”

If you lay hold of the cross

You get every blessing!

If Christ is yours

Then you belong to Christ!

II) Christ Shepherds the Church (v. 9-10)

The Divine Shepherd nourishes His flock

The divine Shepherd protects His flock

The Divine Shepherd Leads His flock

The Divine Shepherd refreshes His flock

III) Christ Will Guide His People back to the Promised Land (V. 11-12)

No barriers

All Jews and Gentiles alike will be brought to the promised land
