Life as Avodah (‫)עֲבוֹדָה‬ Romans 12:1-2 • We invest time in reading the Word of God and meditating on it. • We spend our lives in prayer to the one who created and sustains us. • We share the Gospel message of love, shalom, and salvation with those around us. • We are a people characterized by generosity • And following the greatest commandment, we also love our neighbors. Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Romans 12:1 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2 Offering our bodies as a Living Sacrifice… this is your true and proper worship. Avodah. ‫עֲבוֹדָה‬ Avodah. ‫עֲבוֹדָה‬ = Worship, work, service, sacrifice Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. If you do the right thing, won’t you be accepted? But if you don’t do the right thing, sin will be waiting at the door ready to strike! It will entice you, but you must rule over it!
