The New Year

Here we are another year in the books. Over the last 365 days we have experienced every emotion imaginable. We have been sad, happy, excited, frustrated, angry, depressed, impatient, too patient, elated, aggravated along with a host of other adjectives to describe our emotions. We have recieved good news, we have recieved bad news, we have been let go from jobs, gotten job offers, been in the hospital, went on vacations had babies and done a number of things as a family.
Some of us had plans, plans to grow old right here in Columbus, plans to buy a new home, plans to finally deep dive into a hobby and God had different plans. This is prime time for planning. We want to God to hear us, we make resolutions, and set goals. New Year, New Me, Chasing Money all 2019, Blocking out all the haters all year.
One of my dear classmates from Southwestern Christian College said “will your 2019 be a repeated series in 2020”. What will we do? Will be allow ourselves to be guided by God, or will you ask God for guidance with our own directions in mind?
In 2020 I want God to hear me, but in response to him hearing me I want to meditate on his word. We can’t receive guidance without heeding his word.
Give ear to my words, O Lord, Consider my meditation
In 2020 I need good to heed to the voice of my cry, but in return I respond to him at My King and my God. I can’t expect for God to heed to my voice if I’m not willing to acknowledge him and obey Him as the King he is and will continue to be.
Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God, For to You I will pray.
Understand what is going on with David at this moment, Saul is trying to kill him, Saul’s officers are trying to kill him all because they think he’s trying to steal something that God anointed him to have.
There is something God has anointed you to have, that the people around you do not want you to have and will position the narrative to act like you are trying to steal what God created for you.
God hear me and protect me, God protect me and love me, God protect me and teach me, God teach me and guide me.

3 My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD;

In the morning I will direct it to You,

And I will look up.

4 For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness,

Nor shall evil dwell with You.

5 The boastful shall not stand in Your sight;

You hate all workers of iniquity.

6 You shall destroy those who speak falsehood;

The LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.

I’m going to start my day with God
I’m going to understand that wickedness has nothing to do with God, that is the evil in others.
Boast all you want, I’m going to let God take care of all of those who seek my destruction.

7 But as for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy;

In fear of You I will worship toward Your holy temple.

8 Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies;

Make Your way straight before my face.

David’s life was in danger, so he had to ask God for direction daily. Nonetheless our lives might not be in danger but we still are hanging in the balance of tough decisions and we need God’s guidance.
No matter what life looks like I’m not going to quit coming to God, I’m not going to quite worshipping God. Dear God as we approach this new year lead me O, Lord. Lead me because of my enemies, lead me because of your mercy and goodness and power.
God can make the way straight, I know we are tired of the crooked turns and sudden stops but God has the ability to make the most crooked path straight!
