Intro
God created us to worship him. Worship is to adore the triune God and bestow honor on the Lord because of his great glory. The word of God gives us different examples of worship from the building of altars as Abraham did to to give sacrifices when God appeared to him. Then under Moses they tabernacle served as portable sanctuary for Israel to worship God in his presence. Then the temple established by Solomon in Jerusalem that lasted three centuries until the destruction by Babylonians. Then in the return from exile they built a new temple that was later renovated by Herod the Great. The Romans would destroy this temple in AD 70.
Though the from of worship has changed the heat of the worship has not. Worship has continually been demonstrated by prayer, faith, sacrifices, listening to God’s Word and reading of God’s Word.
We get our English uses of this concept from Saxon/Old English word “weorthscipe” or “weordhscipe”that means “worthship” or worthiness. This comes from knowing the worthiness of God. God is worthy to be worshipped because he is God. We come to know God by faith in his great revelation to us for his Glory.
AIM: Live to worship the Lord our Savior and creator in everyday services, prayer, and devotional life.

Worship God through his word.

hebrews 1:1
Hebrews 1:1 NLT
1 Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets.

Receiving God’s word is an act of worship.

God has looked to reveal himself to us through his word.
God in the past has spoken:
In many ways to the ancestors
Through the prophets
God spoke in diverse ways:
Through Angels
Wind
Donkeys
Dreams
God has revealed himself through His Word.
We know of God’s love and faithfulness through his word.
We know how to worship God through his word.
The Word became flesh.
John 1:15 NLT
15 John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, “This is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’ ”
John 1:14 NLT
14 So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

Therefore, God now speaks through his Son

Hebrews 1:2 NLT
2 And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.
We know God the Father through God the Son.
God in the final days revealed his perfect plan through Jesus Christ.

We worship the Son because of who he is and what he has done.

God the Father through the Son created the universe.
The Son of God was in the beginning with God the living Word.
John 1:1–2 NLT
1 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He existed in the beginning with God.

We worship Jesus our Savior

Hebrews 1:3 NLT
3 The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.
Jesus as our Savior is exalted and seated at the right hand of God.
Jesus and God are one and the Son radiates God’s own glory!
Jesus sustains everything by the might power of his command (word/message)!
Jesus has cleansed us from our sins.

Jesus is worthy of all the praise

Hebrews 1:4 NLT
4 This shows that the Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave him is greater than their names.
hebrews 1:4
Even the angels know to worship him. see .
Hebrews 1:6 NLT
6 And when he brought his supreme Son into the world, God said, “Let all of God’s angels worship him.”

We worship the eternal righteous ruler

Hebrews 1:8–9 NLT
8 But to the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice. 9 You love justice and hate evil. Therefore, O God, your God has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else.”
We worship Jesus because his throne will endure forever and ever.
Jesus the the Messiah the rightful heir and eternal King and Lord.
Jesus will rule with righteousness and love.
There is everlasting joy with Jesus over his creation.

We worship the sustainer of our life.

Hebrews 1:10–12 NLT
10 He also says to the Son, “In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundation of the earth and made the heavens with your hands. 11 They will perish, but you remain forever. They will wear out like old clothing. 12 You will fold them up like a cloak and discard them like old clothing. But you are always the same; you will live forever.”
speaks of how the world will pass away but the power and rule of Jesus is forever.
We can experience this glorious reign by giving our lives to our redeemer.
Jesus will live forever and we can be found in him to live forever.

So Worship him, the God who changed your life.

We have all that we have because of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Let us worship him everyday!
We shall give him all because all belongs to him. All the glory, all the honor, all the power dominion and majesty. Our breath is because of the Lord. Every breath we take is a gift from the Lord. That is an average between 20-30 breaths per minute. There are 60 minutes in an hour and 24 hours a day makes, and 365 days make a year. That adds up to a minimum of 10,512,000 gifts last year as you enter the new year January 1, 2020. We can thank God fore every heartbeat, every blink of the eye too every day of your life and that still would not be enough, but it is enough.
We were not created to pay God back for what he has done. We must remind ourselves that we are the object of God’s love and compassion. He made us to love him and our response is to worship him.
