Jesus is the full expression of God.

John 1:1–3 ESV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Why is it important that Jesus is God and not just someone who tells us about God or is a great example of how to live?
The prophets, priests, and kings in the Old Testament were like postcards of Hawaii. They give you a good picture, but they are actually a flimsy representation of the real thing.
What do you think of when you think of God?
A.W. Tozer said, “What comes to your mind when you think about God is the most important part of you.

Jesus came to share God’s life with us.

John 1:4 ESV
In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
What is the significance of Jesus having life in him and not just someone who knows the way to life?

Jesus came to do what we cannot do.

John 1:12–16 ESV
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’ ”) For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.

In fact, these verses refrain from spelling out the connection between faith and new birth. Those who receive the Word are identical with those who believe in his name, and they are identical with those who are born of God

How does the grace Jesus gives provide assurance for us and offer true hope of transformation?
