God created both men and women in His image and likeness.
Scripture portrays men in both their strengths and weaknesses, successes and failures.
While noting they are incomplete without women, share equality and privileges … equal in redemption
Nevertheless, men have been given specific responsibilities by God.
Absence of men in society is seen as a curse in Scripture
“The elders have left the city gate,
The elders have left the city gate,
the young men, their music.”
As leaders in Marriage and Family Life (; ; )
As leaders in the church ()

Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, 5 for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church? 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.

To be prayerful and godly (; )

But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.

To be humble ()

Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you

To love their wives ()

Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them

To be loving fathers to their children ()

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

To be sexually pure ()

For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, 5 not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God; 6 that no one transgress and wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you. 7 For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. 8 Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
