INTRODUCTION

Emptiness

The recognition of spiritual emptiness is a blessing

It is a terrible thing to have a passion with no power to live it
Four words describe the apostles before Pentecost. Discouraged Dejected, Disabled, and filled with Depression
Depression is a rage turned in upon ourselves as a result of the disturbing realization that we can’t change things in ourselves, in people, or in situations.
Out of power and conscious of our own failure, we are broken and empty. Only at that point can we accept the fact the being a Christian is not just folloing the Master but allowing him to liven his life in us and through us32q

The Emptiness was filled

Suddenly there was the sound of violent winds

Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.

They were convinced what they were waiting for was happening
Tongues of fire camp and settled on each on of them

They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.

fire was a symbol of divine presence, of purifying and refining energy
They were filled with the HS and began to speak in tongues

They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

The Lord took them as they were: broken, empty men
The people were amazed, each heard them in their own language
On Pentecost it was not the gift of tongues that was given but the gift of communicating Praise to God for Christ in other languages
