O LORD, you have searched me and known me!

2  You know when I sit down and when I rise up;

you discern my thoughts from afar.

3  You search out my path and my lying down

and are acquainted with all my ways.

4  Even before a word is on my tongue,

behold, O LORD, you know it altogether.

YOUR IDENTITY DOES NOT COME FROM YOUR WHAT YOU HAVE OR WHAT YOU DO…IT COMES FROM GOD
What would you ask if you had a magic machine that could answer any question about your life?
Some possible examples:
How many chicken nuggets have I eaten in my life?
How many gallons of Mountain Dew have I consumed?
How many pounds of fingernails have I clipped?
How many times have I said the word “the”?
One of my favorite things about God is, He actually knows the answers to all these questions.
He knows how many freckles you have.
He knows how many seconds you've spent watching Netflix.
He knows what you had for dinner four years ago.
He knows the second you were born and knows the second you will die.
He knows every text and Snapchat you’ve ever sent, and He screenshots everything (not in a weird way, but he sees and knows everything).

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high; I cannot attain it.
Tonight, I want to go over some incredible things about God that directly impact YOU TONIGHT!
He knows how many freckles you have.He knows how many seconds you've spent watching Netflix. He knows what you had for dinner four years ago.He knows the second you were born and knows the second you will die.He knows every text and Snapchat you’ve ever sent, and He screenshots everything (not in a weird way, but he sees and knows everything).
Before we figure out who we are, we need to understand and believe who God is!

God is Omniscient and omnipresent

OMNISCIENT
God knows all things
God knows all things
God knows everything about you
Is this scary?
What would God say about your last 10 text messages
Internet history
spotify account
snapchat account
Conversations with your friends
Thought life
Ominpresent
God is everywhere
Is this comforting or off putting?
GOD KNOWS WHAT I DO, WHEN I DO IT AND HE SEES ME WHERE I DO IT (V.2-3)
How does it make you feel that God is “acquainted with all your ways?” (v.3)

God searches us and knows us

What does this mean?
God is actively involved in your life
God knows your struggles
God knows your pain
Your fears
Your sorrows
your heartaches
Your INSECURITIES
Everything
Although God knows us, it does not mean we will be free from all that.
TRUE SUCCESS OVER THESE THINGS COME FROM US KNOWING GOD
He knows what’s on our tongue before we say it (v.4) (Out of the heart the mouth speaketh)
He knows our hearts
How do you feel about God knowing your heart?
Does it scare you?
He knows our path (v.3)
He knows our tendencies
What tendencies do you have
Proclivity to sin?
What is your path?

God protects us

You hem me in, behind and before,

and lay your hand upon me.

6  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;

it is high; I cannot attain it.

Are you trusting in God to protect you? To keep you safe?
Hem me in? What does that even mean?
This is insinuating we can’t go anywhere apart from Him…it’s the idea of laying seige to a city and totally surrounding it.
Aren’t there times when you want to run from God
Think about those times in the Bible
Jonah
Akan
Abraham (running to egypt)
The disciples
You get the idea
It always ends in heartache
IF we stay with God, we are protected and secure
What does you lay your hand upon me mean?
Perhaps this is an allusion of a doctor talking the pulse of a person or the temperature.
God not only sees us, he knows us.
every part of us
v.6 HIs knowledge is too wonderful for me i cannot attain it
The psalmist seems to rejoice about God knowing everything about him
Do we feel the same way?
I KNOW I DON’T
He rejoices at the expansiveness of God’s knowledge (He knows about everyone)
He rejoices at the inclunsiveness (Although he knows about everyone, he takes special interest in each person)
He rejoices at the greatness of God’s knowledge (Too high we can’t reach it…why would we want to reach it?)

Conclusion

Where are you at tonight?
Have you realized God is always with you?
Are you running from Him?
God knows you, and He wants to be a part of your life.
He created you and He wants your heart
