Introduction
Raise your hands if you know what wisdom is?
For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
2. People
If you read in the book of Proverbs, a lot of it is about Solomon talking to His Son about making wise choices
3. Personal experiences
As you grow up you are going to make mistakes, you probably already have! But the best thing about making mistakes is that you can ultimately learn from them so that it doesn't happen again.
So why am i talking about Wisdom? Well today I wanna go back and talk about a certain King and that King is the wisest man in the Bible. That is, King Solomon. What’s interesting though is how he became the wisest man and thats what we will be looking at today.
So Solomon is the Son of King David who is arguably one of the godliest men in the bible. He loved the Lord but now it was his sons time to rule.
Solomon goes to one of the High Places which were the altars that were built on top of hills to sacrifice to the Cananite Gods but now because they didn't have a Temple they worshipped at those. So after a long day of worshipping, God appears to Solomon in a dream and this is what he says...
Notice how Solomon doesn't ask for more riches, or for materialistic things he asks for an understanding mind.
An Understanding Mind
An Understanding Mind
A hearing heart
You hear that a-lot espescially in the movie industry like with Disney when you hear things like “Follow your heart” or “What does your heart tell you?”
Being Teachable assumes you aren't the smartest person in the world and that you are able to put away pride and are okay with making mistakes and not know everything
This is why we go to school so that we can learn so we know things to help us in the future
this is why we have teachers and Pastors, Church leaders is because there are people who know more than us and we get to use them for our benefit
maybe you are fighting with one of your friends and then another friend tells you that you are actually in the wrong… how will you react?
Can you imagine if Solomon wasn't a Teachable person? Do you think he would really go to God if He knew how to run the kingdom without Him?
Knowledge though it is meant to help you, it is also and more importantly to help and lead other peopel
Christians are all to be leaders in a sense
Choosing the Good
Choosing the Good
This is super important- just because you gain knowledge it doesn't automatically mean you will choose right from wrong.
This is why Solomon asks God for the ability to discern to choose between good and evil because knowing whats Good is from God’s standard
