And when they came to the crowd, a man came up to him and, kneeling before him, said, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he has seizures and he suffers terribly. For often he falls into the fire, and often into the water. And I brought him to your disciples, and they could not heal him.” And Jesus answered, “O faithless and twisted generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me.” And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
As we move into the new year 2020, may we take time and refocus on what God’s will is for us individually and collectively as a church body.
Simply put we all need to hear from God and the best way to hear from God is to empty out our junk and allow Him to fill us up with His Spirit.

A Need
A Need
A man came up to Jesus crying out for mercy. He had a son who had seizures caused my demonic spirits which he suffered greatly.
The father put it all before Jesus knowing He had the power to heal all things.
Do you have a need today?
Have you cried out for mercy to the Lord? may we never give up on crying out to the Lord for mercy for ourselves and others. Jesus is the only answer we have.
Have you told (confessed) him everything that has been going on?
Are you to busy to get alone with Jesus and tell Him all about your troubles?
So he brought his son before the disciples of Jesus he had faith that they could heal his son because they had been with Jesus.
Do people come to you with there spiritual needs because they know you have been with Jesus? This says a lot about the fruit people see from you. What kind of fruit are they seeing? (Spiritual, Physical or Material)

The man had already to the disciples with a need for his son to be healed from demonic spirits which caused him to have seizures.
So he brought his son before the disciples of Jesus he had faith that they could heal his son because they had been with Jesus.
Do people come to you with there spiritual needs because they know you have been with Jesus? This says a lot about the fruit people see from you. What kind of fruit are they seeing? (Spiritual, Physical or Material)

Jesus rebukes his disciples by calling them faithless and twisted generation, How long am I to be with you ? How long am I to bear with you?
The disciples had been with Jesus for sometime now and had seen the work Jesus had done. He had taught them that they had the same power with in them that was in Him. Yet they still doubted.
Church, Do you find your self in those same shoes today? We read, hear and see the wonderful works of the Lord even today but we still are a faithless and twisted generation.
Jesus commanded that the boy be brought to him.
Jesus rebukes the demon and it came out of the boy and he was healed instantly.
When Jesus speaks things happen. At the very name of Jesus all things come into submission.
so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The disciples had a question for Jesus, “Why could we not cast it out?”
When Christ sent the disciples out a year before they had power to cast out demons.
but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay.

So now a year later they seem to have lost the faith in Christ alone being the power to cast out demons. Their own flesh pride and desire may have crept into their thinking.
Be mindful they did not loose confidence in their abilities but was shocked when this demon did not come out at their command.
And God was doing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were carried away to the sick, and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them. Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists undertook to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul proclaims.” Seven sons of a Jewish high priest named Sceva were doing this. But the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I recognize, but who are you?” And the man in whom was the evil spirit leaped on them, mastered all of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. And this became known to all the residents of Ephesus, both Jews and Greeks. And fear fell upon them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was extolled.
Christian, have you fallen from where you where at when God first called you out? Do you now find yourself with little faith? Pride comes before the fall.

Jesus answered the disciples, Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
God only requires just a little faith and the mountains that you are facing in life will move. With God nothing is impossible.
“However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”NKJV
This brings us to point of the message today. There are times when we all have needs and the only way to have those needs meet are by prayer and fasting.
This practice helps you get alone with God and hear his voice that tells you which way to go.
The spiritual principle undergirding fasting is simple: “We can’t be filled unless we are emptied.”
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Jesus gave us an example of how this is done. Are you willing to follow Jesus?

As we move forward in 2020 may we seek God’s will for us individually and collectively through prayer and fasting.
Brandon Cook states, “What are some areas for fasting? We simply need to look to God’s good gifts in the world. Remember, fasting is detaching, for a season, from the good things to which we’ve become (or might become) overly attached.”
Three categories for good things we are meant to enjoy but which we might misuse.
