Don’t Just Talk About It

Intro
We are a society of one liners, phrases and or sayings.
So much so we use them as song lyrics, movie titles and so on.
Through the years language changes and these sayings get dated. Dated or aged sayings don’t carry the same weight they once did but the idea is still true……
For example TCB. or Taking Care of Business. It’s so much a part of who we are that  Bachman Turner Overdrive had a hit song named and based on the idea.
Elvis Presley is really the person that brought this into popularity. He had a logo with the initials TCB w/lightning bolt running through it.
It is said that he gave gold rings and chains with his logo on them to the Memphis Mafia…basically men in memphis loyal to him…..
like I said these sayings get dated but the principle is still true
so a new generation comes up with a new way of saying it.
Don’t talk about it, Be about it.
Church I don’t know if you realize this or not but you and I are supposed to be taking care of the fathers business.
Do you remember in scripture the time when Jesus was 12 years old he got separated from his parents.
They went three days journey before they realized Jesus was not with their caravan?
Now I know this brings up a lot of questions like why did it take three days for them to realize this, did anybody call CPS, was this something that happened a lot. LOL
When they finally located young Jesus, he was in the temple with the scribes and the doctors of the law, preaching to and teaching them.
His parents were displeased that he had wandered off from them and that they had lost track of him.
Ever been through this? Looking for a Kid unable to contact them? I’ve been on both sides of this coin.
I have been the parent and I’ve been the child. In a situation where they just needed to know that you were safe.
Ever been there?
You are searching and praying making deals with God. EXPAND
and once you found out they were safe,
There is instant relief but for only a second
THEN
you were ready to tear their heads off.? LOL
Mary and Joseph were much the same way.
They scolded Jesus for wandering off from them.
they were happy to know that he was safe but they were upset with him but then he said this
“ don’t you know that I must BE ABOUT my fathers business?”
See Jesus understand at a very young age that he had a destiny that was bigger than his earthly fathers carpentry business.
Now as we look at this verse here in Jesus is full grown and he is now running his father’s business.
As we study Jesus his role in the fathers business, I believe we will also realize that we too are called to take care of the fathers business.
Now I want to look at a very descriptive verse in Luke.
Luke 4:18 NLT
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free,
I love this because here we have Jesus quoting Isaiah’s words that were prophetically spoken concerning Jesus hundreds of years before this.
And then a broader sense it was a prophecy concerning the church, the church walking in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Here in Jesus standing up in the temple and speaks out boldly quoting Isaiah and then he says this day this scripture has been for filled.
But let’s look at the scripture he was actually quoting.
Isaiah 61:1–4 NLT
1 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. 2 He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies. 3 To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory. 4 They will rebuild the ancient ruins, repairing cities destroyed long ago. They will revive them, though they have been deserted for many generations.
In these 2 scripture settings (Luke and Isaiah) we are told what the ministry of Jesus is…
We can expect that anywhere Jesus is he will do these very same things.
As we read these very powerful verses or faith is stirred to believe God for everything that Jesus did.
*We are to expect
*The gospel to be preached to the poor.
*The brokenhearted to be healed
*The captive to be set free
*The opening of the prisons to them that are bound
*The recovering of sight to the blind
*We are to expect comfort for all that mourn
*We are to expect joy, supernatural joy
 and
*We are to expect that praise is going to overcome the spirit of heaviness
Every where Jesus went he healed the sick,
he cast out devils,
he cleansed the lepers
he raise the dead.
He set captives free,
He opened blind eyes,
He unstopped deaf ears,
and
He healed broken hearts.
So our first point is.

1.Everywhere Jesus went he undid the works of the devil.

That’s what the Bible tells us here in the book of Acts chapter 10.

Acts 10:38 NLT
38 And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
Jesus affectively and completely destroyed the works of the devil everywhere he went.
There is no question as to whether Jesus actually did these things or not, the Bible says it, and history bears it out.
The only question is how did he do them?
So in point #1 we also have
Sub-point A.

a. How did He do them?

Some would say: he did them because he was the son of God and is the son of God so he had supernatural power and ability.
That is true, but not entirely correct.
Yes He was and He is the son of God but in fact
He laid aside his deity when He took upon  himself humanity.
Philippians 2:6–8 NLT
6 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. 7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, 8 he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
In other words, he willingly divested himself,
meaning he put aside the deity he had and walked the earth as any other earthly person or human person.
any other earthly person or human person. Basically confined  himself to operate and function on this earth with the same capabilities and the same limitations as any other man or woman of God.
Basically confined  himself to operate and function on this earth with the same capabilities and the same limitations as any other man or woman of God.
Now what’s your excuse. Don’t talk about it BE about it.
Still the question is  "then how did He do all the divine, supernatural, miraculous things that he did?
The Bible tells us here in Luke chapter 4.
Luke 4:18 NLT
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free,

and then again in Acts
Acts 10:38 NLT
38 And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
So you see the answer is:
Jesus operated and functioned on this earth as any other man or woman anointed with the power of the Holy Ghost.
He was anointed by God with the Holy Spirit.

2.  He was empowered by the anointing.

 Let’s look at another scripture

1 John 3:8 NLT
8 But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.

do you hear that church he was anointed with the power of the Holy Ghost, to fulfill the purpose.
Jesus had power with the purpose.
In other words the anointing was the power to do the job.

3. There was a purpose set before Jesus.

There were:
 Lost Sheep,
broken hearted people
there were those who were oppressed by the devil,
those who were blind and deaf,
Those who were bound and oppressed and even dead.
The anointing was the power that was on Jesus life that equipped him...
To heal them,
to deliver them,
to raise them from The Dead.
Jalen its time to answer the call of the “Pastor stare, nod, point"
Everything that Jesus did of a supernatural nature, He did by the anointing and the power of the holy spirit... through His humanity.
Why is it so important for us to know?
Because Jesus has commissioned the church to carry on his work to fulfill His ministry on the earth.
Jesus said in as the father has sent me into the world even so I send you.
Just as Jesus had a purpose before him we have a purpose before us.
What that means to you church is this, we can read everything that Isaiah said about Jesus
and everything that Jesus said about himself in Luke chapter 4:18-19
Jesus said about himself in Luke chapter 4:18-19
and we can say

So can I

In other words we are sent to do the same things Jesus was sent to do.
Jesus was sent by the father and we have also been sent by Jesus now.
We also have a purpose,  and to fulfill that purpose we must have power.
To do what Jesus did we must have what Jesus had.
The secret to power in Jesus‘s life was that he was anointed with the power of the Holy Ghost.
This secret to power in our lives is the very same thing it was for Him.
It is the anointing of the Holy Ghost.
It’s time to take care of business.
Don’t talk about it be about it.
We are the hands and feet of Christ upon this earth
We are His church, His bride
and instead of going and throwing rocks at the Lady of the abortion clinic it’s time to start laying hands on people and getting them healed, and set free in the power of and the presence of the Holy Ghost
