1 Corinthians 12:12–26 CSB
12 For just as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of that body, though many, are one body—so also is Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and we were all given one Spirit to drink. 14 Indeed, the body is not one part but many. 15 If the foot should say, “Because I’m not a hand, I don’t belong to the body,” it is not for that reason any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I’m not an eye, I don’t belong to the body,” it is not for that reason any less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But as it is, God has arranged each one of the parts in the body just as he wanted. 19 And if they were all the same part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body. 21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” Or again, the head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that are weaker are indispensable. 23 And those parts of the body that we consider less honorable, we clothe these with greater honor, and our unrespectable parts are treated with greater respect, 24 which our respectable parts do not need. Instead, God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the less honorable, 25 so that there would be no division in the body, but that the members would have the same concern for each other. 26 So if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

Introduction

Introduction:
What we see on the outside when we look at one another is merely a reflection of what is going on beneath the surface.
When a person dies the medical examiner performs an autopsy to figure out the speculated cause of death.
He/She they peel back the flesh
so that the bones can tell the story.
You are able to determine injury, addiction and even the self inflicted wounds.
If we would be honest today if we peeled back the layers in our church today what story would the bones tell?
All of us have a story.
The human skeleton at birth is composed of about 300 bones. However at adulthood it decreases to about 206.
Some of the bones fuse together.
Set in our ways
Mobility affected.
Once an active child with energy and agility  (oh to be a kid again) now you have pains you can't explain and hurts where you didn't know it was possible.
It is an interesting parallel reference Paul makes as he describes those that are in Christ as His body.
Literally what he is showing us in this text is if unbelievers are going to see the resurrected and ascended Christ we as believers must come together as His body.
The world sees the church, and good or bad what they see on the outside tells the story of the body on the inside.
Hell raiser vs. Glory carriers
The human skeleton performs 6 major functions.
Support -
Movement - (stretch)
Protection -
Production of Blood Cells - (Keep the blood flowing)
Storage of minerals - (nourishment)
Endocrine regulation
Every member of the body has a important part to play.
Every member of the body has a important part to play.

Background

Paul opens chapter 12 by sharing that we have all been given a spiritual gift.
God has given us all a gift that is designed to give God glory.
CHRIST has strategically equipped us with gifts to reach those who do not know Him.
Although there are a diversity of gifts Paul reminds us that they all came from the same spirit.
Now in this text Paul illuminates to us that although we all have been given a gift and we are members individually just as the human body we were designed to work as one.
We were all baptized by the same spirit. No matter the background God connected you by His spirit.

Main Idea

In order for our community, culture, and country to see the true church we much show the true body of Christ.

Design (v.14-17)

1 Corinthians 1
1 Corinthians 12:14–17 CSB
14 Indeed, the body is not one part but many. 15 If the foot should say, “Because I’m not a hand, I don’t belong to the body,” it is not for that reason any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I’m not an eye, I don’t belong to the body,” it is not for that reason any less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?
Purposeful Design
Genesis 1:26–28 CSB
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness. They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, the whole earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth.” 27 So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female. 28 God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every creature that crawls on the earth.”

Ephesians 2:10 CSB
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.
You’ve been shaped for a specific purpose.
2. Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
Psalm 139:14 CSB
14 I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wondrously made. Your works are wondrous, and I know this very well.
Psalm 139:
3. Embrace the design
You were built to do it different
Part of the beauty in the body’s design is our differences

Diversity (v.18-20)

1 Corinthians 12:18–20 CSB
18 But as it is, God has arranged each one of the parts in the body just as he wanted. 19 And if they were all the same part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
God Has Arranged
You are not the BODY: By Yourself
Arranged
Appointed
Assembled
Don’t Allow Diversity To Divide
You are needed (Tell your Neighbor)
Every part has a purpose

Dependent (v.21-26)

1 Corinthians 12:21-
1 Corinthians 12:21–26 CSB
Just because you are dependent doesn’t mean your deficient.
1 Corinthians 12:22 CSB
22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that are weaker are indispensable.
1 Cor 12:
You may be unnoticed but you’re necessary.

2. Dependence means we must “Do It Together”
