The Hobbit

There have been times when I think we do not desire heaven; but more often I find myself wondering whether, in our heart of hearts, we have ever desired anything else. C. S Lewis-The problem of Pain
Did any of you ever read the book “The Hobbit”? I read it as a young man. It was one of the first books I really got into. In the story, the wizard Gandalf, enters into the Hobbits hole through the front door, and before the door can close a dozen dwarfs entered the burrow. You see Hobbits tended to be quiet simple people and they kept to themselves, they kept their lives structured and simple. Bilbo, enjoyed possessions, order, and having things knitted together with purpose. You might say that Hobbits were not considered to be great adventurers. The Magician told Bilbo “There is more to you than you know”
In this story, Bilbo finds himself strapped with extra work and social duties that he did not want. At the end of the first act, as Bilbo falls into his easy chair and breathes a sigh of relief, after the unwanted guests had emptied his pantry to satisfy their great hunger and thirst, the dwarfs begin to sing an ancient song and something within Bilbo was awakened.
Inside Bilbo was found another bloodline “Tookish” In this bloodline was the adventurer who wanted to carry a sword rather than a walking stick. Inside each of us is a royal bloodline; a bloodline that calls us to something hard to relate to, because we are simple people who can relate to the dirt under our feet, but struggle with the heavenly things. Much like a leaf cannot grasp the air around it, but without the air and sun, and rain, the tree is left to find all its nutrients from the ground where its roots are buried. When the tree is left to the dirt as its only source it will eventually decay. Walk into the forest and see how the young saplings reach towards the heavens for nourishment. Without the sun and air the tree cannot make the chlorophyll needed to live. You see wed are much like the tree and the hobbit; we want the safety of what we know best, but we need the adventure of the heavens.
We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And this fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.
I and the Father are one."
8 or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you.
9 Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this?
21that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one John 17:21
10 In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.
