Praying for the Lost

Romans 10:1 NKJV
1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.
Intro: I’ve been hitting pretty hard about verbally sharing Jesus. Elab
a. We need to be doing this. Most Christian don’t. I understand that it can be very intimidating. I m not trying to make you feel guilty because you are not.
b. I want you to do it. It’s my prayer and desire for you to do so. You have to share Jesus with the lost because you want to, it had to be your desire.
c. I know that if you really have a desire to share Jesus, and relay on the power of the Holy Spirit, you will be able to.
d. If you feel that this is something you cannot do, at least not now. Start by Inviting someone to church. Invite to church cards.
d. Last week I mentioned about setting a goal of having 50 people in our morning service by the end of the year.
e. This can be done.
Someone is saved because you lead them to faith in Jesus. (Share your personal testomony)
Someone is lost and you invite them to church.
Someone who is saved and has been out of church.
f. If we are going to do this. We must spent time in prayer.

The desire to see the lost Saved

Romans 10:1 NKJV
1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.
Paul who at one time was against Christians, had become the hardest working Christian there was. Elab.
a. Paul’s desire was for Israel (the people to be saved). But not just Israel.
b. He’s hearts desire. AMP “with all my heart’s desire” it was a consuming desire”
c. More then anything. Paul wanted to see the lost saved. This is a great verse to pray if you too want that desire. Pray and ask God for a consuming desire to share Jesus with people.
2. Paul’s desire was so great he left everything to share Jesus. (Elan his life before salvation, and all he left behind)
a. Our desire has to be great, it needs to be a consuming desire. Means trust in the Lord, rely on the power of the Holy Spirit. Put you fears aside.
3. Next part of that verse Paul says “Prayer”
a. Paul had the desire. And he also prayed.
Paul’s Prayer life: When you read his letters (books of the Bible) he would mention his prayers for them.
PRAYER WORKS:
Moses Prayed and God parted the Red Sea.
Joshua Prayer and the Sun stood still
The First Church prayed for boldness (the place shook)
What will happen when you pray for boldness.
What will happen when we pray for boldness and for the Holy Spirit to move.
What will happen when you pray for the strength to share Jesus?
What will happen when you pray and ask God to give you the boldness to invite someone to church?
What will happen when you pray and ask God to give you the consuming desire.

The reason we need the desire

Matthew 7:13–14 NKJV
13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
a. Jesus was saying that the majority of people don’t enter the narrow, small gate (Jesus) or walk on the narrow way that leads to everlasting life (Heaven).
b. Instead, most people enter the wide gate and walk on the broad road in life (a life without Jesus) and spend eternity in “destruction” (Hell).
c. That truth should motivate Christians to share Jesus with lost people. It may be someone you know (this may be easier for you). It may be a total stranger. Pray for the strength to be able to do it.
2. Something I have mentioned in the past: You may have a lost friend or family that lives in a different area and you have been praying for them. Ealb
There is someone who has a lost family that lives here, and they have been praying for them. You been be the one that God uses.
Lets looks at praying for the lost: Someone you know or someone you may get the opportunity to share Jesus with (or invite to church)

Praying Effectively for Lost People.

How do we pray effectively for lost people? We can pray for conviction, conversion, and a contact.
Pray for conviction.
Unless the Lord convicts a person and shows them, (1) they is a sinner, (2) their “good works” is not enough to save them, and (3) they will one day stand before God at the final judgment and give an account for all he did in his life, that person will not get saved. That is why we should pray that God will convict lost people of “sin, righteousness, and judgment” (cf. ). Without conviction, there will be no genuine conversion.
John 16:
John 16:7–8 NKJV
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. 8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
Pray for conversion. It is biblical to pray for lost people to be saved. Paul prayed for his Jewish brethren to be saved in , “Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation.” If Paul prayed for lost people to be converted to Jesus, so should we.
When I pray for lost people, I like to pray Scripture. I pray ,
When we pray, God does things He does not do if we don’t pray. The more you pray for lost people and share Jesus with lost people, the more lost people will get saved!
When we pray, God does things He does not do if we don’t pray. The more you pray for lost people and share Jesus with lost people, the more lost people will get saved!
Acts 3:19 NKJV
19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,
“Father, I pray for ___________. Help him to repent and return to You that his sins may be wiped away, in order that times and seasons of refreshing may come to him from Your presence.” I also pray , “Lord, I pray that ________ will call on Your name and be saved!”
When we pray, God does things He does not do if we don’t pray. The more you pray for lost people and share Jesus with lost people, the more lost people will get saved!
Pray for a contact. Ask the Lord to bring someone into that lost person’s path that will share Jesus with him. Then be prepared to be that person. God uses saved people to share Jesus with lost people.
Romans 10:14 NKJV
14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
You will see more people become Christians if you will pray fervently for people by name to be convicted by the Holy Spirit, to be converted to Jesus, and to be contacted by a soul-winner.
Colossians 4:2–4 NKJV
2 Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; 3 meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, 4 that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
