Remember last week we talked about prayer and fasting as we push into this New Year of 2020. If you have envelops that need to be turn in please come place them inside locked prayer box. For those who were not here or maybe you did not feel one out and would like to please raise your hand and our ushers will get you one.
Remember these are prayer request that you want to see answered in 2020 and are putting them before God and the church for prayer and fasting throughout this year. We will have prayer at the end of service today over the prayer box.
Today, we will look to see the difference between waiting or wandering. Many of you may think you are waiting for the Lord but in reality you have been wandering for months and possibly even years.
Isaiah 40:27–31 ESV
Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the Lord, and my right is disregarded by my God”? Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Why Do You Ask?

Starting in the prophet shifts to a time period of Babylonian captivity that was to come which began in 597 BC.
Why do you say? In light of who God is why would his people questioned Him as if He forgot about them in their captivity.
The Names Jacob and Israel are a reminder of a man who followed after the Lord and the nation was formed from the faithfulness of God through this family.
Yet these people seem to have thought God had left them in their time of despair which they brought on themselves.
They where telling people that their way was hidden from the Lord and their rights had been disregarded by God.
This is the same God that formed the nation of Israel who was the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. The same God who spared the nation by using Joseph situation to become prime minister in Egypt (2nd only to Pharoah) and the same God that brought them out of slavery in Egypt after a new pharoah took over that did not know Joseph or his God.
Church, May I say this in love today? We do the same thing to God who has been so good to us. We praise him when everything is going our way and good but at the slightest movement downward or backwards we start asking why????
Oh, I know many of you are self-righteous and would never do such a thing. Why don’t you come off your high horse and get before God today and repent. Many try to stay so high that they don’t realize how low they have fallen.
Revelation 2:5 ESV
Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.
Come on somebody, Are you listening?

Are You Listening?

The Prophet continues asking questions, Have you not know? Have you not heard?
It seemed as if they had not been taught about what God had done for them in the past. Perhaps their parents failed to teach them the ways of God and His faithfulness through the years.
Deuteronomy 11:18–20 ESV
“You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,
Are you listening parents, grandparents and church? We have a duty to teach our children the commandments of God.
The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the Earth. We must stop the silence of the church and listen to what God has taught us through his Word.
Hebrews 4:12–13 ESV
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable (Google doesn’t know everything but God does).
Are you listening church? Let’s stop playing church and start being the church which Jesus Christ died for on the cross!
Because of what Jesus did on the cross we have hope of heaven. God has not forgotten about you no matter what others may say or do.
He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might be increases strength.
Do you hear what is being said today? You can not do it alone or by the ways of man. You need the Lord Jesus and He has already done what needs to be done for you.
Instead of going at it alone, Will you wait for Lord?

Wait For The Lord

Our text tells us in versus 20 that those among the people who should be able to hold out and have endurance will grow tired, weak and fall out.
says that even the youth and young men shall faint and be weary and fall exhausted. You see it doesn’t matter how much strength and energy you have, without Christ you can do nothing.
John 15:5 ESV
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
brings us to the conjunction but, Remember the conjunction junction, what’s your function?
“BUT” - used to introduce a phrase or clause contrasting with what has already been mentioned
Isaiah 40:31 ESV
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah
You see church if we will just wait on the Lord and his timing then our strength will be renewed and we will be like eagles who soar high into the sky (We will be able to see the whole course). We shall run the race set before us not grow weary and walk the track of life and not faint.
However we must wait on the Lord and stop wandering!

Stop Wandering

Many of you today say you are waiting on the Lord but in reality you have been wandering in the wilderness because of your disobedience.
Joshua 5:6 ESV
For the people of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, until all the nation, the men of war who came out of Egypt, perished, because they did not obey the voice of the Lord; the Lord swore to them that he would not let them see the land that the Lord had sworn to their fathers to give to us, a land flowing with milk and honey.
Are you among the ones who will miss your blessings because you are wandering here and there instead of waiting upon the Lord;s direction for your life and then respond with faithful obedience once you hear his calling.
Remember, God has called us all to salvation which comes by faith in the Lord Jesus and His complete work on the cross.
Dear brothers and sisters, please come home today and stop wandering in your lostness, your self regret, your depression, your addition, your anger, your unforgiveness.
Stop Wandering and Come to Jesus!!
