Ecclesiastes 5:10-12
Wealth, Good or Bad?
Wealth, Good or Bad?
24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
Matthew
Is money bad?
no but like all things to be snared by it and enslaved to it is
10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
Desire of money makes one like Scrooge
cold
heartless
hateful
greedy
We know we cannot serve God and money
Because you can’t get enough of God
if money is your god you will never get enough of it
continual longing pursuit of something that is frail and temporary
money only has value as long as the government says it does
Without society money will have no value
3rd world civilizations, your dollars mean nothing
Where Your Treasure is There Your Heart is
Where Your Treasure is There Your Heart is
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Where is our treasure suppose to be? What does it mean that our treasure needs to be in heaven?
Hope in the eternal Christ, joy, hope is found and rooted in Him
7 For when dreams increase and words grow many, there is vanity; but God is the one you must fear.
God is the one we worship
God is the one we adore
God is the one we desire
When God is your focal point the pursuit of your heart is filled
13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
The yearning of your heart for acceptance, love, desire, worthiness, value
is met and fulfilled in Christ - Your earthly relationships can’t fulfill what your soul longs for!
Jesus is the grand subject of our worship
