“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
And you know the way to where I am going.”
Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?”
(NKJV)
(NKJV)
1“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
2In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
4And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
5Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”
It didn’t seem like the disciples were ready. But Jesus knew that their success was not up to them, it was up to the Holy Spirit.

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,
even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.
(NKJV)
16And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—
17the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
Another - like Jesus (he was a comforter - woman caught in adultery / Zaccheaus)
Holy Spirit - took Jesus place
Jesus never made anybody feel bad about anything they did. Neither will the Holy Spirit.

(ESV)

“But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.
(NKJV)
26“But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.
The Holy Spirit is not condemning you
And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment:
concerning sin, because they do not believe in me;
concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer;
concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
(ESV)
(ESV)
8 And when he comes, he will convict (not criminal prosecution; convince) the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment:
Convict - means to convince someone of something; bring to light.
Convict (convince) in their conscious of their need for a Savior.
This is the Holy Spirit's job, not ours. Present the Gospel to people and let the Holy Spirit do His work.
9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in me;
convince the world that sin is ruling their lives - that’s a good thing
10 concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer;
11 concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
(ESV)
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
The church may be the #1 source of condemnation
condemnation - a statement or expression of very strong and definite disapproval
The Holy Spirit doesn’t make you miserable
God/HS is not giving you disapproval and a sense of failure (we should not give it to people either)
You pray for people - disapproval
condemn bldg - not fit for use (many see themselves that way)
nothing special about me, I’m nobody special, I don’t feel like I’m special - that’s a lie. God loves you, you’re the apple of God’s eye
what I set my hand to prospers; I’m blessed
NOT fat, stupid, ugly, weak, failure (you have love, joy, peace; you are righteous)
NOT you sorry thing, you failed again - that’s your own conscious
God sees you in the Spirit / perfect
comforter / encourager; not a condemner; there is 0 condemnation from God
(WUESTNT)
1 Therefore, now, there is not even one bit of condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,
(NCV)
1 So now, those who are in Christ Jesus are not judged guilty.
(NKJV)
5Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
Trust in God’s ability to handle the situation
frustration, irritation - sign that you’re not trusting
following directions - never been there, someone who knows the way - you trust
How to Develop Trust
spend time with Him. Meditating, reading, prayer
The Word
16All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
(ESV)
26But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
The Holy Spirit always leads in line with God's Word
(NKJV)
8But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.
32And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
(NKJV)
13However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
deceived - haven’t spent enough time in the Word to distinguish God’s voice from the lying voice of satan.
(NKJV)
23Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(NKJV)
17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
(NLT)
2Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Something is wrong with a believer cannot hear the voice of God

Reasons why Christians don't hear from God
1. Unbelief
1. Unbelief
2. Unrenewed mind

3. Unforgiveness
3. Unforgiveness
Like taking poison and hoping the other person will die
Positioning yourself to hear from God
