Introduction
Greetings to the household of faith!
It is a privilege to stand before you to deliver God’s Holy Words.
I thank God that I am part of the family of God.
I stand on the shoulders of great men and women who have gone on before.
Truly I am drinking from wells I have not dug and standing on a firm foundation that I did not lay…
But thanks be to God that I am here apart of this great international organization.
I am here today only because of God’s grace and His mercy
The theme for this year and a whole new decade is ‘Fanning the Flame 2020’!
When I look at the theme ‘Fanning the Flame’ it implies that there is a need for the flame to be fanned, whether great or small.
Every believer as the Fire! The fire that burns within them.
Whether great or small.
Some so small that you can’t even tell they have fire.
Some so great that it is obvious that they got the fire!
But wherever condition you find yourself in this morning the call is to fan the flame!
Fan the flame that burns within!
With fanning the flame there is an expectation for that fire that burns within you to grow
To grow more than where it is now.
So the question then becomes…
How do we fan the flame in the year 2020?
Fanning the flame requires the same formula has it did back then…
Requires nothing new, nor requires nothing that we don’t already know.
We have to follow the clear instructions if we want to fan our flame.
The way to fan our flame is through gathering the people of God together in one accord to pray together, fast together, repent and seek the Lord.
The scriptures that was given to us is taken from
But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words.
15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day.
16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
This was just after the Holy Ghost fell.
This was post Holy Ghost dispensation
Here Peter was referring to Joel Ch. 2
And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your young men shall see visions,
Your old men shall dream dreams.
This was the result that they were looking for.
But for before the prophet Joel declared the prophesy, the people in his time was in great distress…
Back in the prophet Joel’s day they had fallen on hards times…
There was a great famine in the land!
The locust the palmerworm and the cankerworm and the caterpillar had eaten up the land..
The field was wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn was wasted: the new wine was dried up , the oil languisheth…
The was a need for God to do only what God can do in a situation like that!
The scripture in Joel chapter 1 the people seeking the Lord that He would heal their Land.
The scripture in Acts Chapter 2 the disciples were seeking the Lord that He would send the power of the Holy Ghost.
What both scriptures had in common was that they were seeking the Lord for a reason, seeking for a purpose. Seeking for a need! Seeking for Almighty God to step in.
You see brethren, When there was a need for the move of God, there’s always a call for the people to get together to Pray, Fast, Repent and Seek God to a achieve one common goal.
And it was only then will we see God move.
(NKJV): Now, therefore,” says the Lord,
“Turn to Me with all your heart,
With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.”
13 So rend your heart, and not your garments;
Return to the Lord your God,
For He is gracious and merciful,
Slow to anger, and of great kindness;
And He relents from doing harm.
He goes on to say Joel Chapter 2:15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, consecrate a fast! (There was a need for God to do what only He can do).
When there is a need for God to move amongst His people the people get together to pray and seek the Lord!
Another instance, where this happened was in the book of Zephaniah!
In Zephaniah Chapter 2:1 It says, Gather yourselves together, Seek ye the Lord!
says: If my people will humble themselves, pray, turn from their wicked ways, and seek my face then will I hear from heaven and heal their land.
- Seek the Lord, While He found be found. Call upon him while He is near.
Today in 2020, the beginning of a new decade, there is a need for the City Mission Church here in Los Angeles!
We are not at the same place we were in 2010 and we will not be at the same place we are now in 2030.

The must be a noticeable difference when we experience the power of God.
To fan the flame and we need the help of almighty God to do so.
Praying, fasting, repenting seeking God is not outdated, and it wasn’t just for back then.
It is needed now more than ever.
There are still miracles, signs and wonders that need to be experienced in this present time!
For God is the same yesterday, today and forever
He is the Alpha and the Omega!
The Beginning and the End!
Behold! He Lives Forever More!
There is a God who roams the earth
There is a God in Israel
There is still a God in City Mission!
The methods to hear from God has not changed.
The Word of God has come to us today because we need it TODAY.
The theme comes to us today because we need to fan our flames
What we are in need of is the Wind of God to blow upon us that will intensify our flames.
FRESH WIND
You see, let me tell you something brethren!
There is something about wind that ignites fire!
Fanning produces wind and the wind ignites the fire…
As we fan, it creates a wind!
And the wind that I am praying to pass by here is comes from no other source but the Wind sent from heaven above!
And this wind comes from no other source but from heaven above!
When we pray, fast, repent and seek the Lord. God responds
Acts Ch. 2 verse 1 says,
When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
You see some of us need to experience that mighty Wind from Almighty God!
We need the wind to blow us such that it ignites a fire that will burn within us.
When the wind meets with something that something that is already lit!
A GREAT BURNING OF FIRE begins to take place
The breathe of God to blow upon us
Fresh Wind Blow. Like the rushing of a Mighty Wind.
You cannot see it but you can feel it.
That’s why its alright to feel the feel.
There is a sound from heaven like a mighty wind.
So my prayer is that a fresh wind blow in this place that will intensify our fire!
A rushing mighty wind is what we need from Almighty God.
Seek the flame while you still have the got the chance.
Second Wind
This Christian journey can be very tiring.
I had the privilege to preach earlier this month to the City Mission church in Fort Lauderdale.
And I encourage the brethren their about a Second Wind.
In the sports world, there’s a term called Second Wind…
Definition: a person's ability to breathe freely during exercise, after having been out of breath.
a new strength or energy to continue something that is an effort.
Second wind is a phenomenon in distance running, such as marathons or road running, whereby an athlete who is out of breath and too tired to continue suddenly finds the strength to press on at top performance with less exertion.
It can be trying but can I encourage you not to give help.
Keeping running!
Can I encourage to hold on just a little longer, your help is on the way!
Second wind is coming!
A second refilling of the Holy Ghost.
You may feel down and out but know that your help is coming, Keep running.
Hold on to God’s unchanging hand!
Go forth and preach the gospel.
Spread the tidings ‘round! Wherever man is found the Comforter has come!
We got to get to the point where we are like Jeremiah, and the Word of God is so hot within us that we feel like FIRE shut up in my bones!
You see there are levels to this!
And we are trying to get to the point where we are so fired up in God that nothing can quench our fire.
No one can dampen the fire that is burning within us.
The harvest is ripe for the laborers are few.
Your Sons and daughters shall prophesy!
The spirit of boldness!
