HEAR YE THE WORD
HEAR YE THE WORD
INTRODUCTION: There are many voices clamoring to be heard in this day. There are the voices of government, education, business, labor, sports, etc. But God is also demanding of the people a hearing. God has spoken, man is without excuse. In our text today some people refuse to hear the Word of God. (write more) The command of the Lord is to hear His Word. Have you heard?

INTRODUCTION. There are many voices clamoring to be heard in this day. There are the voices of government, education, business, labor, sports, etc. But God is also demanding of the people a hearing. God has spoken, man is without excuse. In our text today some people refuse to hear the Word of God. (write more) The command of the Lord is to hear His Word. Have you heard?
I. WHAT SHALL WE HEAR WHEN WE HEAR THE WORD OF THE LORD?
I. WHAT SHALL WE HEAR WHEN WE HEAR THE WORD OF THE LORD?
A. We shall hear the word of condemnation for the sinner. ; In the Bible condemnation is equal to damnation, judgment, punishment, destruction, and verdict. In a strong sense, condemnation means ‘the banishing to hell for all those who are disobedient to the will of God’. The world today needs to the Word of the Lord that says that there are consequences for our disobedience. Jeremiah was sent to Jerusalem to deliver this message to the king of Judah and his staff. We need not to only know what God can do for us, we need to also know what God will do to us for disobeying Him. (vs 3-4) . We all have sin, therefore we are all under Condemnation. It doesn’t matter if you are saved and sanctified you are still under condemnation because you were born into sin. ‘Look, I was guilty of sin from birth, a sinner the moment my mother conceived me.’ As we go through our text we will see that these king’s had a good up bringing but since they didn’t cherish the Word of God in their hearts they gave into worldly things. Therefore, it is so important for followers of Christ to spend time with God by studying His Word, praying His Word, meditating on His Word, and living His Word. (?) Not only should we hear the word of condemnation but we:

A. We shall hear the word of condemnation for the sinner. ; Condemnation- in the Bible condemnation is synonymous with damnation, judgment, punishment, destruction, and verdict. In a strong sense, condemnation means ‘the banishing to hell for all those who are disobedient to the will of God. Not only should we hear the word of condemnation but we:
WHAT SHALL WE HEAR WHEN WE HEAR THE WORD OF THE LORD?
B. We shall hear the word of invitation. ; . God has compassion for us so much that he sends out an invitation to us to come to Him when we are thirsty, broke, and disgusted. God is inviting us to come to Him so that He can but your weight on His shoulders and give you rest. God is inviting us to hear His Word that His anointed speaks. Now we need to understand that is an invitation and if we don’t accept this invitation, don’t expect to get the benefits of this invitation. I know some of you are saying that you accepted the invitation, you repented, was baptized, and you are attending church. But God still sends out invitations by way of His anointed preachers. Like in our text God is inviting us to listen to what He is saying. So if we accept this invitation to listen to God we need to understand that this is not a only a Sunday deal but a daily deal. “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.” ‘So, faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ.’ If you accept this invitation and all that it entails, God will honor it, ‘Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.’ You are invited to hear the Word of the Lord but if you don’t accept, ‘For I tell you none of those men who were invited shall taste my banquet.’ Not only should you hear the word of invitation:
B. We shall hear the word of invitation and salvation. ; ; . When we accept the invitation, receive Christ, and believe in Him we will begiven the right to become children of God. , ‘But all who have received him – those who believe in his name – he has given the right to become God’s children – children not born by human parents or by human desire or a husband’s decision, but by God.’ When we open up the book, read it, and hear it we will understand that there are some steps we need to take in order to be called God’s children. So, we can’t one step into heaven. (Scripture) Now a days we are leaving out Christ but trying to believe in the Father. Jesus said, ‘me and my Father are one.’ We need to hear the Word of the Son to fully believe in the Father. Everyone who believes in the Son also believes in the Father. .

C. We shall hear the word of salvation. II. THERE ARE HINDRANCES TO HEARING THE WORD OF GOD.
A. The love of sin will cause men not to hear. ; , . There was a Facebook post that said, ‘if money is the root of all evil, why is the church asking for an offering.’ I commented on the post letting them know that they were not quoting the Scripture right thus misleading others. See, ‘For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.’ Loving the sinful things you do will cause us not to hear the Word of the Lord. , ‘As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.’ In , Jeremiah pronounced a ‘woe’ on Jehoiakim because he launched a renovation of the palace using unpaid labor. See he cared more about himself than others. Because of sin he did not hear the words of God that his father taught him. Josiah was his father, Josiah enjoyed some kingship things but he was concerned about establishing justice and righteousness. Josiah pled the cause of the afflicted and needy; then is was well. (?) This is the essence of ‘knowing God.’ The love of sin will lead you into self-centeredness. Me, me, me. The Bible is the Gospel of Jesus Christ and not us. God was so upset with Jehoiakim that He told him that when he die that they people will not mourn for him in way they should mourn when a leader dies and he will unburied like a dead donkey. (Iraq example) We need to hear the Word of God and cherish it in our hearts because Satan working to steal away the Word of God.

THERE ARE HINDRANCES TO HEARING THE WORD OF GOD.
B. The work of Satan in stealing away the Word of God. . , ‘People from other nations will pass by this city. They will ask one another, “Why has the Lord done such a thing to this great city?” The answer will come back, “It is because they broke their covenant with the Lord their God and worshiped and served other gods.”’ According to , when we hear the Word of God and don’t understand it, Satan will snatched it out of our hearts. The world today is causing people to leave the church because they don’t understand the Word of God. The world says it’s ok to live together without been married thus stealing the biblical understanding of marriage. This why it is so important for us to come to Sunday school, Bible study, small groups, and prayer meetings. See what’s preached on Sunday’s is broken down in an understandable way in Sunday school, small groups, and Bible study. This is important for Christians to do because we are called to go out into the world and spread the Gospel. See, Satan seeks to keep men blind to the Gospel. . Satan is working hard to keep the world from hearing the Gospel of Christ. , ‘The coming of the lawless one by the activity of Satan will be with all power, and signs and wonders of the lie.’ John Piper said, ‘Do not be outwitted by Satan. God sees behind enemy lines and tells us all we need to know to not be ignorant of Satan’s designs.’ Those who are outwitted by Satan there are some results:

III. THE RESULTS OF REFUSING TO HEAR THE WORD OF THE LORD. . When we refuse to hear the Word of the Lord it will not go unnoticed, see if you don’t know, God is an all-seeing and all-knowing God. , ‘Because I have called and you refused to listen, have stretched out my hand and no one has heeded, because you have ignored all my counsel and would have none of my reproof, I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when terror strikes you.’

Satan is working hard to keep the world from hearing the Gospel of Christ. (?) I was looking at the news when they did a segment about the issues with have with Iran. The Iranian President pronounced war on America. They showed how some actors and actress had signs telling Iran not to attach because they were not ready to die.

God sees behind enemy lines and tells us all we need to know to not be ignorant of Satan’s designs.’ Those who are outwitted by Satan there are some results:
C. The belief that man has plenty of time left to be saved will keep many from hearing the Word of God. Example: Felix, , . Jehoiakim was more concerned with building his own spacious palace than a righteous kingdom. Jehoiakim ruler for eleven years and he died. Doing the call to Discipleship we often invite those who don’t know Christ to come now because tomorrow might be to late. , ‘I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, ‘I will not listen.’ This has been your way from your youth, that you have not obeyed my voice. The wind shall shepherd all your shepherds, and your lovers shall go into captivity; then you will be ashamed and confounded because of all your evil.’ There are some results of:

A. God will one day laugh and mock at you because you refuse to hear His Word. , ; . Because of Jehoiakim’s refusal to hear God’s Word, all of the leaders of Judah will be driven out and scattered to the wind. This warning that God has warned Judah about numerous times He has also warned us about. God is serious about us hearing His word and doing His will. When we refuse to do this, He will step back and let you make a fool out of yourself. “When wickedness comes, contempt comes also, and with dishonor comes disgrace.” . Jeremiah told Jehoiakim that when he die no one was going to mourn for him like they did for his father and they were going to leave his body outside like a dead donkey. This would be a disgrace to the king not been able to have a ceremonial burial. God was hitting him were it hurts but yet he still refuse to repent of his sins. After King Josiah died, his son Jehoahaz became king and he refused to hear and was king for only three months. Jehoiakim became king after him and he followed in his brothers footsteps and was king for only eleven years. Jehoiachin, Jehoiakim’s son followed in his father’s footsteps and he was only king for three months.

B. When you refuse to hear the Word if the Lord, don’t expect things to be in the up and up. Jehoiachin had seven sons but because followed after his uncle and father, Jehoiachin was the last king of Judah. , ‘Thus says the Lord: “Write this man down as childless, a man who shall not succeed in his days, for none of his offspring shall succeed in sitting on the throne of David and ruling again in Judah.”’ Refusing to hear the Word of the Lord will cause a downward motion in your life. See Jonah refuse to hear the Word of the Lord to go to Nineveh. Jonah went down to the shipyard and got on a ship and went down in the bottom of the ship. God stirred up a storm and the men throw him down in the water. Then a great fish swallowed him down in its belly and took him down to the bottom of the sea. Our world today is going down, not all because of who is in charge but because we are refusing to hear the Word of the Lord. Many are disowning His son. We are refusing to hear that ‘You Are Somebody because God is Somebody, see we hate our neighbor, we kill our neighbor, we lie to our neighbor, we won’t speak to our neighbor, we are blowing up our neighbor, and we are trying to depart our neighbor. ‘Hear ye the Word of the Lord’ that ‘God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. When we begin to refuse to hear the word of the Lord we will reap what we sow.

IV. THE RESULTS OF HEARING AND BELIEVING GOD’S WORD. .
B. When you refuse to hear the Word if the Lord, don’t expect things to be in the up and up. When we begin to refuse to hear the word of the Lord we will reap what we sow.
A. Deliverance from judgment. Cp. . ‘There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.’ When we begin to hear and believe in the Gospel of Christ, Christ will deliver us from condemnation. Now if you are saved but you are not hearing and believing in the Word, you are subject to condemnation. The Scripture says in Christ, so you need to be in Christ in order to be delivered from judgment. Believers never need to fear the judgment for sin. For every Christian this judgment is already past. When Jesus comes again He will have in His body the marks of crucifixion, and this will prove that the penalty for sin has been paid in full. , ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.’ When hear and believe in God’s Word will have:

B. Eternal life. Cp. . What a joy to know that you can have life everlasting in the presence of God. , ‘For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.’ , ‘And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life in his Son.’ In order to have eternal life we must have the Son. Verse 12, ‘Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.’ Verse 13, ‘I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you know that you have eternal life.’ John’s goal was to provide clarity and confidence to those who believe in Christ. He wanted them to know that eternal life was to be enjoyed by experience as they believe. As you go through your daily lives known that you have eternal life should encourage to be unfastened to the cares of this world because you have a home not built by man. “HEAR YE THE WORD.”

C. God will see to it that the sinner who refused to hear His Word shall reap what he has sown. , . Church God doesn’t want you to reap bad sowing. This is why in His Word He contrast between reaping bad harvest and reaping good harvest. God is giving us the opportunity to place our lives into the Scriptures to see were it mounts up to. So, God is giving us the opportunity to repent through the hearing of His Word. Yes, God is patiently waiting on you to repent but do you know when His patients will run out. When Methuselah was born God pronounced judgment upon the land if they did not repent. Methuselah live 969 years then the flood came. God was patient with His people for 969 years and they still did not repent and He wiped them out except for Noah and his family. Things and events in the Bible are so relevant in our time now that it should get you to thinking. Yes, I am trying to scare the hell out of you so that you can Hear the Word of the Lord and repent, before you reap what sow and spend eternity in hell. There are some results from you:

B. Eternal life. Cp. . CONCLUSION
A. Deliverance from judgment. Cp. . ‘There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.’ When we begin to hear and believe in the Gospel of Christ, Christ will deliver us from condemnation. There is no condemnation for Christians because God has condemned sin in the flesh by sending his own son to pay the penalty for sin through his death on the cross.
May we stand this is our call to discipleship. For those who don’t know Christ the Word of God has sent an urgent invitation for you hear His word, to believe in His Son, to repent of your sins, to confess that Jesus is Christ, and to be baptized. If don’t know Christ the time is now to know as tomorrow is not promise. If you need to get closer to God this is the time, you may need prayer for yourself or interceding for someone. Maybe you are one who judges the book by its cover rather than opening up to see what it says. See when we judge a book by its cover we see a blind, artistic little boy but when open up the book and allow it to speak to our hearts we will see something different.

See when we judge a book by its cover we see a blind, artistic little boy but when open up the book and allow it to speak to our hearts we will see something different.
