Transition
Father thank you for this time of worship. We want to honor you with our worship. We pray that we would see a move from you. We desire to see a change in our lives, in our jobs, and in our homes. Father we believe that you have something for us tonight. We want all that you have to offer us. Father we raise our hands because we are expecting you. We thank you. We love you. We worship you. In you name we pray Amen.
Message Set Up
Message Set Up
As we proceed to tonights message I have decided to expand our vision night series for a little while. I would like to call this series A look into the future. (Graphic) This series is going to be looking into the life and the walk of Joseph who is the son of Jacob, who was a descendant of Abraham also known as God’s chosen people. Before we move forward lets do a short recap of last months message.
Last month we talked about vision for our church, we also talked about how vision is the vehicle to our future. We reviewed what our goals are as a church. We also talked about how we can engage with our mission and vision as a church community.
Tonight we are going to look deeper in to the tool which drives the mission and vision which is purpose. Purpose is the action the fuels our mission. I would like to dig deeper into the mission tonight. this mission is as folows
Build Deeper Relationships, Deeper Faith, and Deeper Worship, that we may discover who God says we are, develop our gifts, and be deployed as leaders.
That we may discover who God says we are, develop our gifits, and be deployed as leaders.
As I mentioned earlier this series is about looking into the future but in order to do that we have to know what we are looking at which is where we find purpose.
Purpose is defined as the following:
1pur•pose \ˈpər-pəs\ noun
[Middle English purpos, from Anglo-French, from purposer to intend, propose, from Latin proponere (perfect indicative proposui) to propose—more at PROPOUND] 14th century
1 a: something set up as an object or end to be attained: INTENTION
b: RESOLUTION, DETERMINATION
2: a subject under discussion or an action in course of execution synonym see INTENTION—on purpose: by intent: INTENTIONALLY
Last month I also shared how I like studying greek and Hebrew language.
When I looked up the word Purpose if found several words that come close but the one i’m going to share with you is what i have found the most fitting.
πρόθεσις (prothesis), purpose; plan; setting forth.
