John 20:19–21 KJV 1900
19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. 21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
Introduction:
Notice with me again our text verse “Then Jesus said to them again, Peace be unto you:” Now we are about to look at what may be the greatest words that we have written for us from the Savior. “as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.”
Here it is written out for us. What the father required of Jesus is what we are required to do as well. “As my father hath sent me, even so send I you.”
Now we know in this context Jesus is speaking to his disciples but the same message Jesus had for his disciples back then is the same message he has for his disciples today, for the church today, for everyone that says “I’m a born again believer!”
As we get into the message today I want you to imaging right now that Christ is standing in front of you looking you into your eyeballs and says “as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.”
I want you to make this personal not just a general message to the church or Christians in general but this is a message from Christ to you personally!
Now with this in mind, let’s look at some things that were true for Christ and are true for us also.

1. His Mandate Is Our Mandate

Explination:
So what was the mandate of Christ? What did the father send the son to do? Well we see in
1 John 4:14 KJV 1900
And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
It was a mission of Salvation.
Luke 19:10 KJV 1900
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
John 3:17 KJV 1900
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Mark 2:17 KJV 1900
When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
What was the mandate the son had from the father? It was “My Son, go on a mandate to get people saved.” What is my mandate? What is your mandate? Its the same as Christ’s mandate, that is the salvation of souls.
Psalm 126:6 KJV 1900
He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
This is our job, our duty, our mandate.
How many of you have been keeping up with the 2020 elections? I’ll be honest that does interest me some. But, you let congress run the nation, let the president be elected, let the ballers ball, and the actors get all they fame they want and if your smart you will be a soul winner.
You had better start investing in eternal riches and in the things that will last an eternity and that is the souls of men. Our mandate is the same mandate Jesus had and that is getting men, women, boys, and girls ready for heaven.
Transition:
We see that not only is his mandate to be ours but also.

2. His Mission Is to Be Our Mission

Not only is his mandate ours but his mission is as well. The mandate explains to us what the mission was and is and Jesus literally had a four fold mission
A) Fist, Jesus came to reveal the father.
John 14:9 KJV 1900
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
The mission of Christ was to reveal the father and now my mission and yours is to reveal the father through the Son! So its my duty, my job, not only to spread the gospel, but to exemplify the gospel.
(Testimony of witnessing to man on bench who soon ate trash because of conviction.)
B) Second, Christ also came to redeem men.
Luke 19:10 KJV 1900
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
1 Timothy 1:15 KJV 1900
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
He didn”t come as the great healer or miracle worker. He came to save sinners!
C)Third, He also came to raise up the church.
Matthew 16:18 KJV 1900
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Not the church building because that’s not the church but rather us we are the church. So his mission is to be our mission. If you Love Christ then you are going to love what Christ loves and he loves the church!
Somebody say AMEN!
D) Fourth, He also came to ruin Satan.
He cam to bring the kingdom of Satan crashing to the ground.
1 John 3:8 KJV 1900
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Transition:
This is the four fold mission of Christ. His mandate is to be my mandate, his mission is to be my mission and then.

3. His Method Is to Be Our Method

What was the method Christ used as he came with the Father’s mandate, and undertook this four-fold mission? His method was incarnation. He took on him flesh.
Philippians 2:7 KJV 1900
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Christ was made human so he could come down here and have contact with us. He didn’t stay up in heave and try to send salvation down in some sort of package. He came down where we are!
Now, that is his method, and that is the method of today! We need to take the truth of the Gospel and incarnate that truth. The method of God is men and women. God didn’t wait for us to go to him, we couldn't, so he came to us were we are. That was his method.
This is a beautiful facility but don’t ever expect the lost to come here and get saved. If you study the scriptures friends, you will not find one scripture that commands a sinner to go to church- not one!
However, over and over again, the church is commanded to go to the lost. Isn’t that want Jesus did? He left Heaven to be with sinners. In reality you can put the bible into two verbs COME and GO. Come to Jesus and then Go into the world. That’s what its all about
Many years ago there was a boy from the city who went to visit his Grandfather in the country. His grandfather was a farmer and the boy was very excited to visit and help his grandfather work on the farm. When he arrived his grandfather told him “Son you need to get to bed early because we will rise very very early to get things done.” So the boy did what his grandfather said and then very early in the morning his grandfather woke him up and said “Come on son.” they feed the chickens, milked the cows, cut some wood, and started the fire in the stove. After all of that the boy was very tired and they sat down and had a big breakfast after the boy was done eating he got up and started to bed when the grandfather said “Son where are you going?” the boy replied “I’m going back to bed that was a lot of work!” the grandfather replied “We haven’t done the work yet. That was only the chores. The work is out in the field.”
Now, we come to church on Sunday but that’s just the chores. The work is in the fields. When you leave the church property you are entering the mission field and that’s where the real work is!
Psalm 126:6 KJV 1900
He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
I want to ask you a question and don’t answer this out loud. “When was the last time you cared enough for the lost shared the gospel with them?”
“Have you no wish for others to be saved? Then you're not saved yourself, be sure of that!”― Charles Spurgeon
Jeremiah 9:1 KJV 1900
Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, That I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!
This verse is talking about those who died without Christ. Have you wept for the lost lately? Have you shared the gospel with the lost lately?
Transition:
His mandate is to be ours, His mission is to be ours, His method is to be ours but notice also that

4. His Message Is to Be Our Message

What is the message of Christ? It’s the simple plan of Salvation. Its so incredibly simple - not simplistic- but simple, clear, plain, sweet.
Just like Christ used the law with the rich young ruler so do I like to use the law when witnessing to the lost. the bible says in
Psalm 19:7 KJV 1900
The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
What converts the soul? The law of the Lord.
If you have ever lied your a lier. Stolen your a thief. Been angry with someone your a murderer. Looked with lust at the opposite gender your an adulterer. and you must face God on judgment day.
You have broken God’s moral perfect law and you must answer for you crimes. The punishment for the violation of the law of God is a place called Hell. You say “Oh but Brother Trent God is a good God and he will forgive me because I’m a good person. He wont send me to Hell”
Imagine a murder is standing in front of a Judge and said listen judge I’m sorry for what I did and look at all the good things I’ve done in the past. come on just forgive me.” should the Judge let him go? Of course not! Because the Judge is a good judge he cannot let this murder go and must punish him for his crimes.
So God is a good and just Judge and must punish those who have broken his law. the Bible says “all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone:” Because God is Just he must punish you for the sins commited against his law.
But there is good news. The bible says in
2 Peter 3:9 KJV 1900
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
If you have a fine of $250,000 dollars and someone comes in and pays that fine for you the judge and legally let you free. He says “ You had $250,000 in speeding tickets but someone has come and paid it all for you you are free to go.
This is what Christ did for you 2,000 years ago on the cross. You had broken Gods law, Christ paid the fine for you, and he can freely let you go. All you have to do is repent of your sins and trust in Christ alone to save you.
Right now your like a person about to just out of a plane 10,000 ft in the air without a parachute. I’d say to you don’t do that here put on the parachute and trust it to save you from the fall to come.
Friend what you need to do is transfer your trust or faith from yourself to Christ to save you from the punishment to come like you would a parachute. You cant save yourself it’s Christ alone that saves you!
John 1:12 KJV 1900
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Like one preacher said “I don’t want to be famous for anything except for preaching the old gospel.” This is the Gospel that man has sinned and he can be forgive by repenting and trusting in the Savior.
This was the message of Christ and this is to be our message as well.
Transition
His mandate is to be ours, His mission is to be ours, His method is to be ours and His message is to be ours. And if you will notice lastly with me

5. His Motive Is to Be Our Motive

What motivated Christ? Well, as we will see his motive was really four-fold.
A) First, he was motivated by obedience. God the Son was obedient to the Father.
Philippians 2:7–9 KJV 1900
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Christ made himself of no reputation. I’m afraid the reason many Christians don’t want to witness is because they are afraid it will ruin their reputation. In other words we’re afraid of what others think about us.
Jesus wasn’t concerned with that. He was concerned with the lost. I’m so glade Jesus made himself of no reputation and took upon himself the form of a servant. Why? because he loves me and he loves you and is not willing that any should die but that all should come to repentance!
If your bringing souls to Christ then you are following the example set by Christ and being obedient. If not then you are disobeying the command of Christ!
B) Secondly, He was motivated by love. I can imagine the Lord there on the Mount of Olives as he is coming over the ridge of Olivet and going up to the temple. He sees the temple there and begins to weep and say; “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!”
He was motivated by love. His heart was broken and he was moved with compassion.
We have a place called “La Bufa” In Zacatecas that over looks the city there in our town. You can see the entire city from there and all the cathedrals and the thousands of people. Many many times i go up there I look over the city and just think of all the lost people in our city that we are trying to reach and many times I have just wept for the great need of the gospel.
Do you love the lost? Are you motivated by that love?
C) Thirdly, Christ was also motivated by necessity. He knew that is was absolutely necessary that he fulfill his mission. He said in
John 3:14 KJV 1900
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
God had no plan B. Jesus was plan A and that was it. God also has no plan B for evangelizing the world. We are plan A and we must fulfill the mission God has for us to do! Not the angles, But us! It is our job as born again believers to evangelize the world! There is no backup or redundancy. We are literally one generation away from paganism, if we don’t had it down to the next generation!
D) Fourthly, Jesus was motivated by joy.
Hebrews 12:2 KJV 1900
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
I love being able to speak Spanish because it really helps me go deeper into Gods word reading the bible in two languages. In the Spanish this verse would read “Looking to Jesus the author and consumer of the faith.” I love that! If we let Christ consume us we will have joy.
Notice also the part of this verse that says “who for the joy that was set before him” What was that “JOY” that was set before him? It was you! Listen to what Paul says about those he lead to Christ.
1 Thessalonians 2:19 KJV 1900
For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
He is saying that his joy is going to be those that he brought to Christ.
Friends, Is your joy lacking? Let me recommend you to get on a path to leading other to Christ. If your Joy is lacking, your walk is getting dull then get out there and share the gospel with others.
Let me remind you again of the verse in...
Psalm 126:6 KJV 1900
He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
Soul-winning is like farming. You are bearing precious seed. The seed is the Word of God. You plant the seed and then you water it with your tears. Not every seed will sprout, BUT SOME WILL! You just be obedient and go and sow and after a while you will win someone to Christ! We just have to remember that God is the one who gives the increase!
You want real joy. Get involved in the lives of the lost, sow the gospel seed and be a light for Christ.
Transition:
Jesus said to his disciples then and to us his disciples now “as my Father hath sent me, even so, send I you.”
Conclusion:
As we close today I want you to imagine with me one last time Christ, standing in front of you with both hands on your shoulders, looking you in the eyes says “As my Father hath sent me, even so, send I you.”
My challenge for you today is this. Don’t be disobedient to Christ. Surrender your life to him in total surrender and be obedient to his command!
And if there is someone here today that is not Born again and doesn’t know Christ as your Savior. I want to remind you that even tho you have broken the Holy moral law of God and you deserve the punishment of Hell, God sent his Son to die on the cross to forgive you of your sins If you will repent of your sins and trust in Christ alone for salvation.
Before you leave this place you could breath an earnest pray something like this: “God, be merciful to me a sinner. Lord, I need to be saved. Save me. I call upon your name…Lord, I am guilty, I deserve your wrath. Lord, I cannot save myself. Lord, I want to have a new heart and a right spirit, but what can I do? Lord, I can do nothing, come and work in me. I now call upon your name. Trembling, yet believing, I cast myself wholly upon you, O Lord. I trust the blood and righteousness of Thy dear Son…Lord, save me today.”
Sinner, If you will trust in Christ alone today for your salvation the bible says he WILL save you!
Christian, let’s be obedient to the commands of God.
