Matthew 5:13–16 NIV
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Buried Vision
Introduction
Since to beginning of the series we’ve talked about position, perception, and perspective. We talked about how we need to focus in order to see the vision more clearly. So many are limited by nearsighted distractions so much so that it makes it hard to focus on the assignment that God has given them. And because of this, they find themselves stuck in the driveway with a revved-up engine but going nowhere.
Proverbs 29:18 NIV
Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.
It’s hard to do be productive when you’re out of focus
You’re more liable to make mistakes when you’re out of focus
It’s easy to be distracted when you’re out of focus
It’s dangerous to drive when you’re out of focus
Accidents happen when you’re out of focus
People get hurt when you’re out of focus
Frustration and disappointments set in when you’re out of focus
Stagnation sets in when you’re out of focus
Too many people are scattered because they have a lot of activity but no clarity
God has a calling for your life.
He has a blessing custom made just for you.
We thank God for the promise but there is an issue we have to deal with
There is an issue keeps a lot of us from moving forward
This issue is you.
I want to talk to you about how you see you.
One of the hardest things we try to get over is not friends, family, church folk, not even the devil.
It’s you.
What you’ll find is many people will sabotage their own lives because they can’t get out of their own way.
And with so many, it’s not how well they can see the vision, it’s how do they properly see themselves.
There are so many in here who know that God has a blessing for you, who knows that God has a great calling for you, who knows that God has something great in store for you.
But for many of us, the limit to what God wants to do for, in, and through us is how you see you.
I want to talk to you about how you see you.
This is so important because if you don’t learn to see yourself properly you may find yourself devaluing in your own eyes what God has called perfect.
TEXT
One of the first places in the bible that fear was introduced was found in the book of Genesis.
God made all things in heaven and in the earth and called it good.
Then he made man and didn’t call it good. He called it very good.
He created man perfectly.
Nothing missing, nothing broken, everything whole, no blemish, nothing out of place, in all his complexity.
The man was made perfect.
He was made in the image of God.
Since God was perfect, the man was perfect.
Then He gave the man an assignment that required supernatural ability.
He told Adam to name all the animals.
This is no small feat.
Today it is estimated that there are 6.7 mil species on the earth (6.5 on land and 2.2 in the ocean).
He has to remember, categorize, and sub-categorize
Adam was gifted, smart, intelligent, and blessed.
He didn’t want for anything, everything was at his disposal.
He was literally the man.
When Eve came on the scene it was God’s plan for them to partner together and take dominion. The original Power couple. Beyonce and J-Z had nothing on them.
Then Satan comes on the scene he attacks in the area of perception.
Eve is tempted to eat of the tree.
They had everything they could ever want but it wasn’t good enough.
He distorts the way you see God.
Genesis 3:4–5 NIV
“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
Genesis 3:2 NIV
The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,
Gen 3:
Genesis 2:4–5 NIV
This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, when the Lord God made the earth and the heavens. Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth and no plant had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground,
Gen 2:4-5
The enemy tries to get you to devalue what God has given you.
God has done so much for you. (bead, water, light, comfort, provider, healer, mind regulator)
Make you feel like you’re not blessed.
Make you gee like you’re missing out.
Make you feel like God doesn’t love you.
When you devalue blessings of God you open to covet what doesn’t belong to you.
Many people would love to be in your shoes.
Many people would love to have what you have.
We have to learn to be grateful
2. Distorts how you see yourself.
Genesis 3:10 NIV
He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
Adam saw himself naked and was afraid.
The first mention of fear in the bible was not about snakes, spiders, heights.
It was about fear of exposure.
Adam was already naked.
When God made him he made him naked
There was nothing wrong with him before but there is something wrong with him now.
God says, “Who told you you were naked?”
I created you.
The creator of a thing has the authority to affirm, describe and prescribe.
He knows every detail, quirk, purpose, design, what He was thinking
If there is anyone who is qualified to tell you about you is me.
I made you perfect (not good, very good)
And that what I called perfect, you’ve hidden.
I called your name and instead of you responding to my call, you went into hiding.
God called you (in the garden)
Hiding our gifts and talents, devaluing the treasure inside us.
Or Hide behind our gifting, talents, abilities, just enough so that people don’t know that we’re really hiding in plain sight.
Not because of how God sees them but because of how they see themselves.
If you don’t see yourself properly you may shortchange your blessing.
How you see you vs. How God sees you
Illust: Children of Israel to the promised land
Numbers 13:33 NIV
We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”
They saw themselves as grasshoppers in their own eyes.
Why did God bring them this far?
The battle that God send you is an indication of how God sees you.
You see a grasshopper but when God sees you, he sees a giant killer.
You saw a stutterer, I see a spokesman for the entire nation.
You see a shepherd, I see the king of Isreal
You saw a carpenter, I see the king of kings
Weak, strong, poor, rich, borrower, lender. tail, head
Farmer, warrior
I know how you see you but how does God see you?
It’s time to come out of hiding.
Romans 8:19 NIV
For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.
The world is waiting for you to come out of hiding.
The world is waiting for you to take dominion again.
They are waiting for God’s children
Those who act like God
Those who speak like God
Those who love like God
Those who demonstrate the same character as God
They are waiting for us to come out of hiding
Matthew 5:13–16 NIV
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
