Well if we come together this morning. We're looking at a name that is above every other day. My love the song that we saying earlier. What a beautiful name. It is the name of Jesus.

It's a beautiful name. It's a wonderful name. It's a powerful name the name of Jesus.

Sometimes we we confess that we don't really understand how big God is. How wonderful our lord Jesus is a boy asked his father dad. What is the size of God how big is God? he really wanted to know the answer and the father looked up to the sky to see a plane that was passing far above the clouds and he pointed to the plane and he said

what is the size of that plane Sun?

And the boy replied it's very small dad. I can hardly see it. Then the father asked him to get in the car and took him to the airport. And when they arrived at the airport, there was a very beautiful. jet then he just landed coming from someplace across the country beautiful passenger jet and as they were sitting there almost right up against it. The father said what size is that plane?

A little boy's eyes were just as big as saucers and he said it's huge. It's so big.

now my son the father said

your view of God depends on how close you are or how far away you are from him. The closer you are to him the greater and greater. God becomes to you. I think the closer we get to

to Jesus the more we can understand. What a wonderful. What a beautiful. What a powerful. Name it is.

the person of Jesus Christ we're going to look at a couple of scriptures this morning. Then the first one we're looking at is the one week. We read together earlier in Philippians chapter 2 Paul writes about the name of Jesus in verse 1 through 11.

But let me just share a little bit as we go through this. About imitating Christ humility. Be more like Christ and understanding this name of Jesus. Therefore if any of you have any encouragement from being united with Christ notice. He uses that term United with Christ one with Christ. If there is any comfort. from his love Any common sharing of his Spirit if any tenderness and compassion?

Then make my joy complete pulses. By being like-minded like-minded with who? What he was just talking about our being like Christ than so. He's sane be like-minded with Christ.

You ever thought about having the mind of Christ having his thoughts in you?

Give us the mind of Christ. Let us be like-minded with him having the same mindset as Christ as what Paul is saying and have the same love being one with each other in the spirit. and one with each other the body of Christ being one buying How often is we've gotten together as our spiritual life bored or Board of Trustees? And we've offered prayer before we begin our meeting we ask that God would give us one mind give us Unity as we make decisions in him for our church and for its growth and for its its future. To be of one mind. one spirit that is what Paul is asking us to have to have the mind of Christ that have the same spirit with one another and one mind and one heart is weak. We walk through this life together.

And then he gives us not only instruction, but it's like a father talking to a son. mother talking to her daughter not in rebuke, but in training and Paul says do nothing out of selfish ambition and vain conceit. Amen.

Do nothing out of your own will and you're your own selfishness. selfish ambition vain conceit rather pulses in humility

I wonder if we work to look at the fruits of the spirit if we would find the humility is is a part of that that that we empty ourselves. We humble ourselves. in the sight of the Lord rather in humility value others above yourself

You know if we did that as a church body. How much more joyous it would be in our fellowship together?

I remember going to my very first promise Keepers event, even as I say that I think but that's been a while since we've had the promise Keepers for our been to go to but when that first came out in California, we packed a couple of cars then from our church and we drove to the Oakland Coliseum.

And we filled that place with men from all over. Northern California singing together praying together praising together and we had a glorious time men humbling themselves. Some of the greatest speakers from the church at the time Jack Hayford being one of them challenged the men to be the leaders in our families to be the spiritual head of our family to be the priest of our family as men. To care for our wives and to instruct our children and it was a glorious time together, but I'm saying all of that to say that when we got out of those. Beatings together all day. We were there even fix the box lunch in handed it out. Everyone that was kind of like the Loaves and Fishes. Everyone was fed from the back of a semi-truck and they brought out these box lunches. But when it was time to leave.

We could hardly get out of the parking lot because as one car started to come in another car paint. See them saying to one another know after, you know know know after you know, I insist after you. We've been so pumped up. With the word of God and worshipping together and praying together and hearing the word that everyone wanted to prefer one another and I said play hear what these people get out of the parking lot. Rather in humility value one another above yourself not looking to your own interests, but to each of you looking to the interests of one another look at others interests above yourself. Value others above yourself that is the instruction. He's giving us. Because this is the mindset of Christ Jesus and if we're going to have his mindset if we're going to have his operating.

mind we're going to Value others more than ourselves.

Happy in your relationship with one another have the same mindset as in Christ Jesus. He's pointing his back to that. Be like-minded with Christ. Ask yourself.

Is this what Jesus would do? remember the little Dog tags, the people had in the the wristbands. Wwjd. What would Jesus do?

And then someone sent me a little email that said when you say what would Jesus do in any given situation remember that turning over tables and taking the whip to people in the temple? Was among the things that Jesus did so watch out. Have the same mindset as Christ Jesus who valued each and every one of you is so important that he died on the cross for you. for me in your relationships with one another have the same mindset as Christ Jesus. Who inserted the name Jesus who we're talking about Jesus being in the very nature of God? people Scott fully God but fully man unique in that Jesus being in the very nature of God did not consider equality with God something to be grasped one translation says It wasn't something that he would use to his own advantage.

I'm done.

He didn't Lord it over anyone but instead. Rather he made himself Nothing by taking on the very nature of a servant. Remember the story of them gathering in the upper room before. The trial on the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ. He had one last meal with his disciples in the upper room at the Passover the seder meal. He said I look forward to this time that I could share this meal with you and

He took a towel and he guarded it around him. He took his coat off and he took a picture of water in the Basin and a towel and he went around to wash their feet because in a in a Jewish Home when you came in. It was just one of the the niceties it was expected. That the master of the home or one of his servants would bathe the feet of The Travelers who came in because their feet were tired and weary and back in those days. You didn't have Chevy or Ford or your Ram truck? You walked everywhere you went. And your feet were dusty and dirty and tired. And so when you came into a home you took off your sandals and there was a servant there to wash your feet and sometimes even the master of the home. But they have sought to use this room for the upper meal the upper room for the seder meal Passover meal. So the owner of the home was not there. So Jesus took it upon himself to any one of the disciples could have washed the feet of the other disciples, but you could imagine what it would be like that each one of them was thinking okay who's going to wash my feet?

You going to wash mine? I'm not watching yours.

So Jesus set the example and he said see what I have done for you. you call me Lord and Master it and if I conserve you you ought to serve one another and he gave us this example to follow.

Rather he made himself of Nothing by taking on the very nature of a servant. Being bathed in human like this as he was God, but in a human body.

He did not.

Think that equality with God was something that he would use for his own Advantage but emptied himself and became like a servant. inhuman like this And being found in the appearance of a man, he did what? He humbled himself and became obedient. In his Earthly body even to death even death on a cross.

now you and I

we can humble ourselves, but we don't humble ourselves to the point of giving up our lives for one another.

finding the next therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him a name a name that is above every other name.

Even if we sang this morning, what a beautiful name it is.

What a wonderful name it is and they God gave him a name his father gave him a name that is above every other name.

It's a powerful name. A gloriously powerful name vet at the name of Jesus. No other name not the name of Sam Fred Jim Jerry. But the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on Earth and under the Earth.

If that every tongue would acknowledge would confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

His name is above every other name.

What is so special about the name of Jesus God's glory? wrapped up in an Earthly body and he humbled himself and became a servant and he is given given us that example that we should serve. one another care for one another no.

I grabbed this first.

And Jesus came and said to them.

part of the Great Commission All authority in Heaven and Earth has been given to me. All authority. What a powerful name. The name of Jesus all authority in heaven and on Earth has been given to me and this verse found an Axe and chapter 4 verse 12. I'd like to end our time together with for us to think on this verse Acts chapter 4 verse 12 salvation is found in no one else for there is no other name under Heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. There's no other name that can save us except the name of Jesus. John said for God so loved the world that he gave his one and only begotten son that whoever believes in him. Jesus. Jesus should not perish but have everlasting life.

It's a beautiful name. a beautiful name

I found this story once and I have used it before but it's Bears repeating. It's called ugly the Tomcat ugly the Tomcat. everyone in the apartment complex I lived in

new who ugly was ugly was a resident Tomcat ugly. Love three things in this world. three things fighting eating garbage

and we say love.

He wanted love. The combination of these things combined with a life spent outside. Had their effect on ugly this Tomcat. To start with he had only one eye. He'd lost an eye in a cat fight at some point. And that should have been enough where there should have been and I was a hole. He was also missing an ear and it was on that same side where the I was missing. His left foot appeared to have been badly broken at some time and healed on its own and so it was unnatural on an angle. Making him look all the more Despicable man. Let's say ugly ugly would have been a dark gray. Tabby cat. A striped type except for the sores covering his head and his neck and shoulders.

The Firm was missing from those places every time someone saw ugly. There was some kind of reaction there's that

All the children were born not to touch him. Don't don't touch him these he might have disease if there's there's just spell about it. Don't Don't Go Near him until all the children were warned not to touch him all the adults.

Told him to go away screamed at him some even threw rocks at him host him down. Squirted a hose at him trying to keep them away from their home.

There were times when he would try to get into their their home just to get some food to get some love. Unable to close the door on Inman. catch those positives in the doors

If you turn the hose on him, he would stand there. Just getting soaked until you gave up and quit. If you threw things at him he would curl up. His lengthy body and just come as close to your feet as he could.

He was seeking forgiveness.

Whenever he spied children, he would come running and meowing frantically trying to bump his head against their hands his legs. against their legs if you ever picked him up, he would have mediately begin. suckling on your shirt

one day ugly shared his loved with a neighbor's dog. They did not respond. Kindly and ugly was badly mauled. I tried to rush to his aid. But by the time I got to where he was lying. Apparently ugly sad life was almost at an end as I picked up and tried to carry him. I could hear him wheezing and gasping for breath. I could feel him struggling. It must have been hurting him. So terribly I thought then.

I felt it familiar tugging at my own heart. and then he began to suckle up against my ear. Nudging his little head against my chest. Ugly was in so much pain and suffering and obviously dying. but all he wanted what's to give love and get lumps? He bumped my palm with his head. Did he turn the one GoldenEye he had left toward me. And I can hear this thing sound of purring. Even in the greatest pain that ugly have been battling.

He was asking for a little affection for a little love. Ugly just looked up at me completely trusting in me to relieve his pain. Ugly died in my arms. I carried him inside and I held him. for a while ugly taught me more about Gibby and compassion than a thousand books or lectures for talks could ever have given me and I'm thankful for ugly and I'm thankful that he came into my life. My life is richer. because of ugly and I happen to think to myself.

He may have been ugly to everyone else. But in those last few moments with me.

He was beautiful.

and I think about that story and I think how people nicknamed him ugly because of his missing an ear and an i and all of the stores in the the broken. leg that he limped along with

but when God looks at you and God looks at me. He doesn't see the ugliness of Our Lives. When God looks at you and me he sees the beauty. I feel son Jesus Christ in you.

And he can't help but loves his son.

The very God of heaven took on the like this of a man and came and dwelt Among Us. And we beheld his glory.

And he died upon a cruel cross and people hurled insults at him much, like people hurled incense insults at ugly. People saw Jesus hanging on that cross bleeding and dying and they saw ugly.

But I see beauty. in the crucified son Jesus Christ And he did that for you and for me that we might not be ugly but that we might be beautiful inside. What a beautiful name. It is Jesus. What a wonderful name it is Jesus. What a powerful name it is Jesus. Who died for you and for me that we might experience Beauty in our lives. Would you stand with me and we pray together?

Are gracious and loving Heavenly Father? You look down from heaven and you saw the ugliness of man loving us so very much. And giving us Beauty for our ashes. We thank you this morning for pouring your life out for us to give us new hope that we will spend eternity with you in Jesus name we pray and thank you Lord. amen You may be seated then we're going to play in closing a song.

And if you'd like to sing along with it, if you would just like to pray and meditate along with it. But this song is a wonderful. Wonderful song that is done by Leeland.

and the song title is

Here I am Majesty.
