Why is that? Because the redeemed people of God are exalted to a position higher than that of even the highest angels. ‘Do you not know,’ says Paul writing to the Corinthians (1 Corinthians 6:3), ‘that we will judge angels?’ We, as redeemed people, are over the angels; they are ministering spirits, sent to those who are the heirs of salvation (Hebrews 1:14). These strange but glorious beings then are around the throne of God, but not as close to it (or to him!) as redeemed humanity is.
