Fred Henzler was one of the first people we met here at HBC, all the way back when we came here as potential missionaries going to Alaska.
I remember him coming up to us, in his chaplains uniform, and just breathing words of encouragement to our family.
Later when we came to help fill the pulpit while the search for a new pastor was going on, he was one of the first to come to us and say, “have you ever thought of being a pastor? we need a pastor!”
Each time he and others would ask, and each time we would tell them, we are praying for your next pastor!
Then when God moved us here - Fred would come in my office and offer his wisdom and encouragement, always with a smile and talking about how thankful he was for his church.
As time went on, we spent so many precious hours together, talking about the Lord, His word - and of course heaven.
If you knew Fred there were two things that became abundantly clear - First - he and technology did not get along! I did everything i could to set up him up and show him how to use his phone and laptop - only to get a call from him the next day, “Pastor, Its fred henzler again - I don’t know what i did - but its not working again!”
the second thing that was very obvious about Doc, he may have lived here, but anyone could tell you his heart was in heaven with his Savior, and his wife, Mrs Marie. Almost every conversation, no matter what it was about - found its way to heaven.
When the family came to plan the service today - they had a verse that they wanted to emphasize - and when i read it - I had to agree, this verse was the perfect verse to describe Bro Fred.
31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
When Paul wrote these words, he had just finished speaking speaking about his boldness in preaching the word of God and his rejoicing in the Gospel being given.

Then he says in verse 20
14 And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.
20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

What does it mean to
14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.
For me to live is Christ.....
For me to live is Christ.....
This is the mindset of the Gospel lived out through the servants of Jesus Christ
Said...
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
What does this mean?
It means I am a sinner -
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
It means I deserve judgment
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Roms 6:23
It means God loved me enough to send Christ to take my judgment
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
It Means that God has offered me a free gift! Salvation through jesus Christ
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
It means that if I confess - agree with - that Jesus Christ is who the bible says he is - God in the Flesh who came to take away the sins of the world - my sin, he died on the cross taking God’s wrath upon himself and was buried and believe that He did not stay in the grave but three days later came back to life in victory over sin and death - you will be saved
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
To live is Christ means that there was a time in your life where you excepted jesus offer of salvation and now live for him!
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
To Die is Gain....
To Die is Gain....
If the first part of this verse is the mindset of a Christian who seeks to live the gospel - the second part of the verse is the hope of that christian!
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
1 cor 3:
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
Fred spent his life breathing the Gospel.

28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15 Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;
