Introduction
A. Therefore be imitators of God as beloved children
The christian should reflect the self-sacrificing love of Christ
B. The way we live should reflect HIM with our speech and actions
NOT a HINT
All humility and gentleness
C. All
Patience with one another
Eager to maintain unity
We are not to live as if we do not know Christ like unbelievers do. Their heats are in darkness to the truth, the Christian’s heart has been renewed and in enlightened.
Put away false hood and tell the truth. Let your yes be yes and your no be no.
We are to work and share with those in need
We are to watch how we speak. Cursing and corrupting talk should not come out of our mouths. Our speech should encourage and build up
We should get rid of bitterness, not to let the sun go down on our anger and seek to reconcile.
We should be tenderhearted and forgiving as Christ has forgiven us
We are to be people of sexual purity, protecting and cherishing the blessings of marriage
Put away impurity in all our motives and actions
Be content with where we are and what we have receiving the provision of The LORD with Thanks giving
No inheritance in the Kingdom of God
No inheritance in the Kingdom of God
For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
eph5:5
A. Everyone who is sexually immoral or impure or who is covetous (GREEDY) that is an idolater, has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ God
Listen to a parallel passage
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Again the warning not to be deceived.
B. Do not be deceived with empty words
B. Do not be deceived with empty words
B. Do not be deceived with empty words
1. what does it mean to be deceived?
deceive implies imposing a false idea or belief that causes ignorance, bewilderment, or helplessness. tried to deceive me about the cost mislead implies a leading astray that may or may not be intentional.
Jesus called satan a lier and deceiver from the beginning. The one behind the deception is satan himself speaking through false teachers
2. We are to be very aware those who live this way are excluded from the heaven and the kingdom to come and they will be subject to the wrath of God
Here is another passage closely related
Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Gal 5
Paul warn believer all through the NT this shows after conversion temptation to sin may still be strong. He told the cor in ch 6 they have now been washed, sanctified and Justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the spirit of our God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Gal 5:
The wrath of God comes upon the disobedience
The wrath of God comes upon the disobedience
Because of these things the wrath of God comes upon
The believer is beloved of God. They are saved from God’s wrath because Christ took the wrath for you on your behalf. Therefore
Do not become partners with them
Do not become partners with them
For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.”
Matt 15:19-20
You were one time in Darkness
now you are in the light in the Lord
It is far too easy to be influenced by the surrounding world and to succumb to its ways and thinking and behaving
The warnings are in the context of a church, which means the identity of those who might try to lead you astray may be members of the christian community. Whatever the source of the temptation we are not to be led into the way of darkness and sin
Take no part in unfruitful works of darkness
Take no part in unfruitful works of darkness
for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.
eph 5:8-
at one time we were in Darkness before our conversion to Christ
but now we are in the light. The love of Christ has flooded our souls. The spirit of God has enlightened our hearts to learn and know the truth and therefore live by it. We are his beloved children
Try to discern what is what is pleasing to the LORD — EXPLAIN
Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness
Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?
Instead expose them
Instead expose them
Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says,
“Awake, O sleeper,
and arise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
eph 5:11-
1. Expose them ----
2. Warning about talking about secret sins are shameful
3. we are to people who have Christ shine light making darkness become visible so it become light
But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?
Conclusion
Conclusion
Col 3:5
Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these the wrath of God is coming. In these you too once walked, when you were living in them. But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.
